Are you making a query on "Nodame Cantabile", or the dramatic incident of its subs?

I see. Here is an abbreviated version of the incident:

1. The subber, siantut, started subbing and post the subs for the first 2 episodes on D-Addicts;

2. siantut setup her own website, S-Projects, and will post subs on that site only. She claimed that she will only be releasing hard-subbed episodes on D-Addicts;

3. A person (for lack of a better word) made an insulting remark on the requirement to register before downloading from S-Projects, thereby starting a flaming battle;

4. A D-Addicts mod, Mizune, stepped in and locked the offending threads. However he made an unfortunate remarking prompting siantut to leave D-Addicts entirely;

5. Beta version of the soft subs for the whole drama was completed and available from S-Projects. However as several sites have made these subs available for downloading, siantut announced that she will release final versions in the form of hard-subbed episodes;

6. As hard-subbed episodes are undeniable infringement on Fuji TV's intellectual property, siantut has reverted her decision and will make the soft subs available on S-Projects. At the same time she has granted right to use the soft subs to a couple of sites.

That's essentially the story. Of course it was a lot more interesting when you are in the middle of it, especially the flaming battle incident.

Hard-subbed shows carry a higher risk of a visit from the local constabulary. The reference to Fuji TV was due to "Nodame Cantabile" being S-Project's first project.

siantut is a Japanese national residing in Japan and her risk of messing with legal eagles on government payroll is probably higher.

Anyone knows whether Mizukawa Asami(Kiyora) and Eita(Mine) can actually play violin or not?? Did they take lessons before filming? How about Saeko(Sakura), the little girl who play the contrabass?

Can anyone explain to me, the genius part of Nodame?? I thought, she always play it messy...but why does people think she's a genius pianist? I don't understand what Chiaki means when he said about Nodame's way in playing the piano, "Messy but it's not wrong,". If she doesn't play it according to the score...then, isn't that's what is called "wrong"? No?

None of them plays the corresponding instruments in real life.

The interpretation of a music score is not an absolute science, otherwise everyone will perform a piece of music in exactly the same way. Things like the tempo and the loudness are relative. For example andante is always faster than Largo, but it doesn't say exactly how much faster. By the same token ff (forte) is always louder than pianissimo (pp), but again it doesn't say by how many decibels.

Nodame has the tendency to adlib - changing the interpretation of the instructions on the music score whenever she feels like. For example her ff in a measure may be louder than the ff in another measure. Since they are both ff in the same piece they should sound equally loud. This is why Chiaki thought Nodame was messy. However Nodame was not wrong because she did not apply pp where an ff is supposed to be (again for example).

The reason that this drama (or the manga) was known as "Nodame Cantabile" was because Nodame plays the piano in the cantabile (singing) style. This style is very pleasing to the ear, but Nodame has the unfortunate habit of using this style even when the instructions on the score says otherwise.

Ah, sou ne. But at least Ueno Juri played the piano since kindergarten to 6th grade. I just thought maybe Mizukawa Asami, etc might have the same experience with the corresponding instruments^^

Nodame Cantabile

Synopsis

Megumi Noda, or "Nodame," is a piano student at Momogaoka College of Music. Although she is an extremely talented pianist who can play by ear, she can't read music. She also hates to take a bath or clean her room. For her daily meals, she usually grabs something out of her friend's lunchbox.

Nodame soon falls in love with Momogaoka's top student, Shinichi Chiaki. Born into a musical family, he plays the piano and violin brilliantly. Although his major is piano, he has secret ambitions to become a conductor.

Based on the big hit comic book by Tomoko Ninomiya, this is the romantic comedy of two completely different personalities. -- Fuji-TV

Is anyone watching this drama?? I loved it! It's time for a little romantic comedy which I think is so lacking in the Jdrama scene lately. I loved Juri in the role of Nodame, and I've said this many many times but yeah, she's the best actress for this role. I'm happy at the pace the drama is going right now, it's just right, not too slow not too fast. Can't wait for the 2nd ep. So, what does everyone think about this? I just wonder, did you enjoy this as much without having seen the manga first? I could be biased in my judgement since Nodame Cantabile is one of my fav mangas, but I thought the first ep was very well done.

i like this drama, but i dun have subttl from ep 3-end, anyone know where i can find the subttl? thxs.

I think someone asked about Nodame promo vids, in the previous pages? Here you go, one of them. It's the small corner in IiTomo, October 16th, 2006. The last time I uploaded was only 1-min, I cut it off...and it was in poor quality.

This one is the FULL 4 mins of the whole corner game. And it's in BEST WMV quality.

Title: Tamaki Hiroshi & Ueno Juri in IiTomo Oct 16th, 2006.
Size: 62 MB
Duration: 4 mins 14 secs
Subtitle: English
Link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GREA6HIV

I'm very sorry it's in MU. I know MU doesn't work for many people, but I've tried to upload it in sendspace, YSI, filesend...it always stopped halfway Shameful Cry Only MU works, so I hope anyone who manage to download it from MU, would be willing to help to re-upload it on sendspace or YSI. Yoroshiku ne~ ^_^
