Watching episode four.
One thing I've noticed: it appears Japanese drama (that I've seen) portray gays as flaming oddball queers... Why does the timpani player in Nodame have to be portrayed as this retro-1970's disco-era nutjob with a giant afro?
A tired stereotype, if you ask me... Even worse, since it distracts from Nodame's main plot.

If you have watched "Waterboys" the movie, you would have noticed the gay guy looked pretty much 'normal' - it's his 'object of desire' that spotted an Afro.
Maybe the Japanese are still embarrassed by the concept of 'like-poles attracts' and is trying to laugh it off?

I suppose... But Japan's not some backward 19th-century nation.
There's no way they could've gotten away with that stuff here in the States.
Anyways, just trying to make a point.

The subber, siantut, was being kind to me - she was hoping Juri-sama will watch this episode with the subs someday and realize what a big fan I was. |
Those comments at the end made me laugh..
Especially that one comment.. "You're beautiful inside" _________________

How does he/she know this? |
like thtl said, it was more of a wishful thinking.
LOL... it's gonna be so crappy if season 2 was filled with a bunch of Elise and Strezmans.
But if Fuji TV is serious, why not? all they need to do is make an awsome casting...
I was wondering what Tanya's character would be like if turned into a dorama _________________

WRONG.
Without a decent plot/story, the drama will suck.... Just like Gokusen 2.
It'd be better off if there were no sequel if it were to taint the original.

She's a piano student from Russia, first introduced in volume 10 of the manga.

Oh.
Like I'm supposed to have read the manga beforehand?

hold your horses.
do you really think the story ends like how it ended in the dorama???
there is a continuation to the story you know. Nodame has a bunch of new friends and let's just say a start to her and Chiaki's international career...
i don't think there will be any problems with the plot if they wanted to make a second season... it's the casts that i'm worrying about. Like i said.... a dorama filled with a bunch of Elise & Strezmans (westerners played by japanese) if overdone will be such a joke _________________
