I did enjoy my time there a lot. I don't want to live there permanently or anything but I'm fine with extended stays.
You're right in that department. It's one thing to visit there, couple of weeks here, a couple of months there. JPNese are always quick to be friendly to tourist/visitors. A little different if one decides to live there. You will then have to compete against the locals for jobs, housing, everything. And speaking to a some of my american friends who live there, the JPN always have the upperhand if it comes down to americans vs JPNese.

You can take the girl outta philly, but you can't take the philly outta the girl! Wink

My condolences. Sorry! hate to sound philosophical, but somethimes 'DA MAN' works in mysterious ways (by no ways do i insinuate anyhting about theology as well. I am the most agnostic person there is....). Hope you're better these days than the 'dark times'.

While I loved seeing Japan a lot, it was good to be home. It's been about 8 months since I came home. I miss it and I can't wait to go back and visit again....but it's gonna be really expensive. I do plan to visit at least several more times in my life. I never got to travel except for living in Tokyo for 3 months, so there's so much of the world I want to see Rolling eyes
Live is short, and you are right, there are SO many places out there to visit.

I go to qw, it's in the heart of Tokyo. Tokyo is THE WORST city in Japan. I'll be happy after I graduate and move to Osaka this summer - get me outta here!!

Hmm, having lived in rural Ishikawa, then Osaka, and now Tokyo, I'd say I prefer Tokyo.

Hell, Akiba is in Tokyo... 'nuff said. Smile

Hehe, I wouldn't want to live in Osaka or Tokyo. Give me Kyoto! Nicely preserved and quiet city that evokes the feeling of a different era and strong cultural history. If I want big city, I could just jump on the train and be in Osaka in 30 min for shopping and craziness. =)

There's only so much of the crazy industrial jungle you can take. In terms of living for extended periods of time, I prefer peace and quiet. =)

The natural and wondrous beauty of nature and beautiful old style buildings/monuments are all part of Kyoto's charm. Kyoto is a pretty decent sized city, but if I wanted industrial jungle I could head to Osaka at any time. I guess I am rather laid back. =)

When I went to Kyoto, I really like it. But somehow, it seemed to "country-like" for me. I couldn't imagine staying there for an extended period of time.

Although I like the city life, I think Tokyo is too overwhelming for me. Osaka is just my pace.

I guess I'm a "so-so in between" type or person.

Osaka really is the place I'll end up staying, for various reasons...

I just like the feel, for a large city it really does have a friendly atmosphere. Also the best takoyaki around doesn't hurt Wink

Yeah I am partial to the Kansai region. Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe. Plenty of cool cities for various tastes. Plus I'm a big fan of Kansai-ben.

well, if you (or any others) save up money and willing to give up certain things in life, one can be able to afford a ticket there. A little sacrifice, but well worth it.
