Nodame??? yes, I heard about this though.... but I don't know where I can find it? Any idea where can I download it?

Nodame Cantabile can be found at the D-Addicts web site for download and the English subs are available at the S-Projects web site. Smile

Spreading the Nodame gospel..... Victory! Peace!

Nodame isn't a high school drama.

Hello! I'm a fan of dark dramas (preferably with a twist) and I would appreciate some recommendations. Please view my profile because I've seen a bunch of them so far. Thanks!

Kamisama, Koi Ni Ochitara, A Sleeping Forest, Kikenna Aneki,
Love And Fight, Over Time, Tatta Hitotsu No Koi, With Love, Virgin Road, Narita Rikon.

Wow, thanks for the suggestions! I do have Byakuyakou in my possession, but since I haven't watched it yet, i didn't add it to my drama list.

Cool! I think I'll watch this a little later because I like saving good dramas for later.

I've only seen a few of these, but I highly recommend Virgin Road. It has romance, comedy, and it's a very touching drama.

Try watching Taiyo no Kisetsu. Its one of those drama that refuse to leave your mind after viewing it. ALMOST as strong as what I felt after watching 100million Stars or Sleeping Forest.

If you can get your hands on it Ao no Hono is a good dark movie starring Ninomiya Kazunari (the boy in Akimahende. Saw you rated it quite high).

mmm... Mukodono (Nagase Tomoya, Yuko Takeuchi - why? Nagase's great in it), Hana Yori Dango (the original, not the sequel - because of the school setting, extravagance & its funny), Satorare (Joe Odagiri - quirky & touching ) Stand Up! (Ninomiya Kazunari - school setting, losing virginity, hella funny etc,etc..) & Kisarazu Cats Eye (YEAH! GREAT FUN! WATCH! MUST WATCH!)

Taiyou no Kisetsu is actually on my list of dramas to get, but I shall bump that up on my list. Smile

And I'll check around for Ao no Hono, thanks! And omg, I had no idea that Taiki of Akimahende was Ninomiya Kazunari!! I guess that's what I get for not being a boyband fan. Wink

3. Dr. Koto

He's a boyband member (& proud of it too) but he's also a dedicated actor. He chopped off his locks TWICE for his characters. Another dark drama recommendation by young Ninomiya is Amagi Goe. Its a 2hr SP oldies (set in the 20s). Downloaded it a couple of months ago when its featured as the SOTW at d-addicts. Heartwrenching tale about a 15 yr old boy who ran away from home, fell in love with a prostitute & encauntered murder a long the way. This was before Akihamende, I think, & Nino cropped his hair really short.

Since I'm here.. I'll pimp some of the best Ninomiya dramas Beaten
- Sukoshi Wa, Ongaeshi Ga Dekitakana[wiki]
Based on a true story about a brilliant young man who suffered Ewing Sarcoma. Cried buckets after watching it with subs Shameful Cry
- Yasashii Jikan
About a young man desperately seeking his father forgiveness after accidentally killed his own mother in a car crash. My favourite drama. Wonderful, calming, endearing, beautiful... I can go on & on about it Beaten
- Haikei Chichiuesama
the same writer as Yasashii Jikan.

monta
I've watched Saiyuki's first episode. Couldn't make myself to keep on watching. I find its too HK drama styled. I'd rather watch Dicky Cheung as the monkey king than Shingo (I do love Shingo, I DO). They should do a dorama feature on Shingo Mama instead.

YES! somebody agreeing Mr Green
hmm.. but since xploring is new to Japanese dramas & stuff I guess its better if I recommend other doramas that's easier to relate to than Kisarazu. Its ladden with comparison to Japanese pop culture. Even I have to watch it twice to really appreciate the jokes. The same thing happened for Stand Up. Both were some of the first dorama that I watched before learning about the world of Jpopculture.

something like Nobuta...
My Boss My Hero
-school setting, highly entertaining, filled with lots of cute guys & girls, rocking theme song sang by the lead actor (TOKIO), friendship plays a big part in the storyline
other dramas : Hana Yori Dango (more love story than friends but its great bait for newbies), Gokusen (hmmm... the 1st one was quite fun..), DragonZakura (Yamapi - Akira - studying to get into Tokyo U with his friends).

feels like i'm repeating myself Sweat

You could also try Tokyo Friends: http://jdorama.com/drama.983.htm

Story involves the friendship of four girls trying to make their way in the big city, among other things. It has 4 great girls as the leads - Ai Otsuka ( Smile ), Mao Kobayashi, Yoko Maki and Rio Matsumoto.
