Ah, this series looks really neat, I've been sorta researching it, and I really wanna see it after I watch alittle more of Stand Up!! but I can't find the episodes anywhere... unless they're torrent files. D:

OK, I got a chance to watch this series (thanks, beemer). While I'm not about to join the hordes of people who rave passionately about this dorama, I must admit I did find it fairly interesting and entertaining. There are some things about this series I found annoying and unfortunately characteristic of much of the popular dorama produced nowadays, but overall, the music was wonderful; the chemistry between the two leads was good; the storyline was easy to accept; and Juri Ueno, even in a role which was highly manga-esque, demonstrated genuine acting ability and charisma, which is rare among dorama actresses of her age group.

I'd like your to elaborate on that, shin, if you don't mind.

As she demonstrated here and in Swing Girls she's got the chops.

Sure, beemer. This obsession with cuteness in all of its manifestations: behavior, appearance, speech, facial expressions--it's a constant presence in a lot of dorama and ends up being too much of a distraction. Incessant mugging before the camera, particularly in this series by some of the supporting actors, accompanied by a lot of yelling and amateurish histrionics--annoying and occurring too often in dorama. Related to this is the unevenness in performances: good acting seems to be the exception rather than the rule in a lot of dorama; mediocre acting, or even worse, the rule rather than the exception. Not getting the most out of truly talented actors: Masato Ibu, Masahiko Nishimura, and Naoto Takenaka are all good actors, but the first two had basically throwaway forgettable parts and, as far as Takenaka, I still don't know what to make of his performance. Like I said earlier, despite some negatives, overall, I did find Nodame Cantabile fairly interesting and entertaining.

Wakarimashita.
Yeah, I did notice that, but being a comedy, I'm rather forgiving about the exaggerations... I suppose if it were incessant or redundant, I'd be a little put off myself.
Takenaka's performance as Stressemann is quite exaggerated over the manga/anime from what I've read/heard, but Takenaka's characterizations nearly always are that way, like in Shall we Dansu?, though he was quite restrained in Swing Girls...
