Sylvain is a user here, has been for a while. Hehad his own thread on his english translations of the Ainori shows, but Beem merged it w/ the other Ainori thread. I dont think he's updated his thread in a while though.

He (or she?) is really good! I wonder if they've ever considered doing subs for dramas?

He's teaching in Sendai IIRC, he may not have time. there should be a profile page on his website (quoted on the previous page)

Here's KSCI's response to my email: "Dear Mark,
Thank you for your viewership and inquiry as we always greatly
appreciate it. The Japanese programs that are produced by FCI (Fujisankei) is
no longer on air on Saturdays and Sunday evenings. This decision was
made by FCI and they did not want to renew the contract to air on
KSCI-TV except for Mon-Fri 6:00am to air their news program."

That's pretty much the same answer I received from KSCI too:

RE: KSCI Website Feedback
Date: Tue, 17 Apr 2007 10:01:04 -0700
From: "Eda, Emiko" <[email protected]>

Thank you for your viewership and inquiry as we always greatly
appreciate it. The Japanese programs that are produced by FCI (Fujisankei) is
no longer on air on Saturdays and Sunday evenings. This decision was
made by FCI and they did not want to renew the contract to air on
KSCI-TV except for Mon-Fri 6:00am to air their news program. However, we
still have other Japanese programs that will continue to air on LA18
KSCI-TV.

Here is the schedule for Japanese programming on Sat & Sun:
(effective 4/14 & 4/15)
Sat 7:30pm JATV
8:00-10:00pm UTB
10pm AMERICAN DREAM

Sun 8:00pm-10:00pm UTB
10:00pm HARVEST TIME

For all further questions regarding Fuji's programs, please feel free
to contact them directly at 310-553-5828 or visit their website at
www.fujisankei.com.

We thank you for your feedback and hope that you continue to enjoy the
programs on LA18 KSCI-TV. Thank you.

Regards,

Emiko Eda
Programming Assistant
LA 18 KSCI-TV

Hmmm, looks like they had to come up with a standard email response. Maybe if enough people complain, FCI will change their policy.

SoCal FCI fans! Please contact Fujisankei and let them know we miss their programs! I just sent them a comment form (found on the FCI website) pleading with them to bring their Saturday and Sunday programming back to Los Angeles. If we send enough feedback, perhaps they'll return to another local channel.

Make sure you send your comments to FCI, not KSCI. Fujisankei decided not to continue their programming contract with our local channel for whatever reason, so it wouldn't do much good to complain to KSCI-TV. We need to let FCI know that we want them to bring their shows back. If they can't renew their contract with KSCI then we need to remind them of the other local channels, such as KXLA.

I just posted this comment on the FCI feedback window. Hope we can get a massive swell of responses to them. If you are short of words you can use my message as a template:

"Dear Sir,

I have enjoyed the morning asadoras and Sunday 9pm doramas for as long as I can remember. I heard with great shock that you are ceasing the asadora broadcasts. This is very dismaying to me and my friends as we not only watch them, look forward to them, discuss them, and use all the advertised products. I hope you will reconsider your decision and come back to give us more of Japanese dramas with Eng Subs that have given us so much enjoyment.
Thank you,

Ralph Moratz
"

What UTB's website calls "Schoolgirl with a gun" is this: http://www.jdorama.com/drama.1033.htm
Doesn't look very promising unless you're a Masami Nagasawa fan, fortunately, it's only 7 episodes long.

Geezer panned this drama big time.

Judging by the trailer, this probably got pitched as, "Let's dress up Masami Nagasawa as a high school girl and give her a machine gun. The otaku's will be too lathered up to notice there's no plot or acting."

K'so! I hadn't watched it in quite some time, but I used to love that program! Short and sweet! The male co-host was always so intensely fascinated by whatever was being prepared. Why are all of our favorite shows disappearing?

They started Teppan Shoujo Akane on channel 44 tonite at 7pm. Another cooking related show, okonomiyaki is the specialty. First episode was good enough to keep me interested, we'll see how it goes. Fingers crossed
