It pops up my email client (Thunderbird). Maybe you don't have one installed... Confused

You can set one up in Set program access and defaults.

That would have been my guess as well.

Hmm, I just noticed this bug: I went into my Profiles page and wanted to turn off displaying my e-mail, but after I was done, the e-mail button still shows up under my signature... Sweat

I decided to turn it off because some noobs have been e-mailing me with J-D admin questions and stuff rather than PMing me... Shake Head bleh

I can see it too. So it's not just on your side.

IIRC, if you change your email address or set it blank, you'll need to reactivate your account. It might not be a good idea to do that...

Yeah, that would be inadvisable. Beaten

tabana, could I have more info if you received double emails or things of that sort? Thanks.

Sorry to quote a message from last year, almost to the day, but I didn't see that part the last time. Sweat

It's just that I always receive 2 email notifications, per thread, like "Topic Reply Notification - Uchiyama Rina MiniGallery". They have the same date and time and content. I do not receive them at the same time tho. I receive the duplicate almost an hour after, even if the message time is the same. If I'm not on the forum and someone reply, I receive them both too.

It must be from the way I browse the forum. I have firefox and I always have more than one tab open.

Yo.

Does it only happen for topic notifications? How about PM notifications? Does it always repeat after about 1 hour? Everytime?

For PM, I don't think so. It's been a while since I got one tho, but I think I only get 1 notification. I'm not so sure...

I get a dupe everytime. Even old topics from almost a year ago, that nobody replied until now and for new ones as well. A long time ago, I tried to unwatch, then rewatch a topic, but I had the same results.

I could timed it to be sure, but in average I'd say it takes an hour. I'll get you back on that. Smile

Ok, I sent myself a PM and only received one notification. Here are the emails headers and subjects I got.

It looks like they are sent at the same time, but one took 30 minutes to be processed... I checked various emails, and they have various time. Some took 30 minutes others 45... The 1st message is usually processed within 5 seconds. I don't know what's happening. It could be yahoo sending weird messages to the mail server...

Yahoo Mail often queues messages as part of their spam prevention. It's very normal for some messages to be delayed when using Yahoo Mail.

I see. I usually receive email a few seconds after they are sent and never had dupes from others tho. The only weird thing is one has nothing in "To: " the other has "To: Undisclosed-recipients:; ". Maybe the 1st trigger a spam filter and sends back an error and then the mail server sends another copy.

I'll try to change my viewing habits and only check the site in one tab and see if that's the problem.

It does sound weird.. have you subscribed to threads in other phpBB sites?

And, has anyone else encountered such a problem before?

I've got d-addicts with the same email address, but it's working fine. I only post one message every 3 or 4 months and don't read any posts tho. hehe

Maybe I busted the amount of thread I should get notifications from. I'll try to unsubscribe to a few of them and see what it does.

I have the exact same problem. It's been going on for a long time, and I've only subscribed to 2 threads. The problem returns if I un-watch and re-watch a thread.

IIRC, I used to get just one notification....perhaps over a year ago.

w00t!

I'm happy I'm not the only one with this problem, somehow. hehe

IIRC, it happened during a server change. The notifications didn't work, but when they started to work, they were coming in double. Since my previous mention of the problem was in April or March 2006, I guess you're right about being over a year.

Thank you! We'll get right on it.
