After finishing "Kekkon Dekinai Otoko" I knew I'd need a sacrificial lamb to watch next (darned near any show I watch next is gonna suffer by comparison) so I started Oishii Puropozu last night.

Yup. It looks like just another cookie cutter, restaurant centered, time filler of a drama.

What the heck. Kyoko Hasegawa is fabulous. And Nishimura and Hashizumi are solid old troopers. Maybe they can make something out of this no salt, no fat, low cal, vegan meal.

Yea, but I think that's more a "guy" viewer thing. I mean, in the beginning I found her character desperate, annoying, and pathetic, regardless of all her "sex appeal". Mid-way tho when they started to give her more depth, I really got hooked.

Of course, this isn't a reflection on Ryoko-san's acting. She was flawless. It's completely a character analysis.

On Topic: Gonna go watch epi 9 of Engine. Thumbsup

Took me a long time to get around to replying to this.... I was very busy this weekend with my youngest daughter's birthday, seeing Pirates 3 on Friday night and spending the day in Sydney on Saturday Smile

I actually found Ryoko-chan to be delightful, despite her character's focus on outer beauty. Unbelieveably (since I am a big Ryoko fan) this is the first time i've seen her in a drama (I know, shoot me). After seeing just the one episode, I can see why people think comedy is her strongest suit. Sure, she's beautiful and sexy, but her range of facial expressions cracked me up. She's just funny!

Well, in that case, it gets better. Victory! Peace!

It was shown in Southern Cal area a couple of months ago.
Cute drama.... Much better than My Little Chef but no match for Kekkon. What bothered me was that the scenes were so dark it was hard to make anything out properly. In fact most dramas comiing from KSCI tend to be very dark.

I hope your version is bright enough to enjoy without squinting or whatever the reverse of squinting is.
Doh!

Yesh, tho her's was not at all as depressing as the others. Although I have to admit, I didn't like her character at all. With the others, you can at least sympathize. I just couldn't with her. Still a good story tho.

I just finished the third. Gonna watch the final one now. Victory! Peace!

Her character was worse than Ueto Aya's in the first round - at least Ueto's character didn't try to scam her clients.

Finished second season of Tsubasa no Oreta Tenshitachi.

My Review: 8/10

After having seen the first season, I was a little disappointed with some of the episodes in this drama.

The first episode was fine, if a bit heavy. It was interesting to see Ishihara Satomi in a serious, angst-ridden role. I thought she pulled it off nicely, although her innocent face belied the harshness of her character. The second and third episodes were not as good. I found them rushed and filled with too much plot. The actresses werenft the problem; it was moreso the actual storyline and female characters for both episodes. In this second season I noticed that there was more of an element of surprise, where the stories would twist to reveal new and interesting information. In the second and third episodes, this surprise was lost in all the events the writer was trying to pack in. Both episodes quickly lost their appeal, not helped by the annoying, selfish female characters.

The one saving grace for this season was the last episode. It reminded me vaguely of a more dark, serious version of the drama Seikei Bijin. This was my first time seeing Karina and I was thoroughly impressed. The moral behind the story was solid and appropriate, and the talent was perfect. The plot played itself out beautifully and I truly felt for the female character. This episode alone excuses the disaster that was episode two and three.

Although I wasnft impressed with this season as much as I was with the first, it did have two episodes worth watching again.

OMG you're so right! The story with Karina is by far the best in the second season.

Karina is such a fabulous actress, and I'm shocked that she's only 22. She carries herself very well, and the message in this final episode was grand.

I didn't know you had watched any except Juri-chan's episode!

On Topic: Obvious, finished Tsubasa. I'm gonna need a comedy now to keep myself sane. Waterboys is next...

If all we can compare it to is "My Little Chef"... I'm in for a dull couple of days. I thought "My Little Chef" was nothing but the "Love Boat" in dry dock. (Honestly, the only thing that really stuck in my head about that show was how good Yamaguchi Sayaka --ep 4?-- looked. She's usually a supporting character, so she doesn't get to spiff up all that often.)

I'm cheating though. I snatched up the episodes that download quickly, so I only have episodes 1, 5, and the final 3. I figured that if I really liked the show, I'd go back and download the rest. After seeing 1 & 5, I doubt I'll be going back for more. I don't imagine I'll feel like I've missed anything once I've seen episodes 8, 9, & 10.

As to the video clarity... I downloaded it from d-addicts, and the picture quality is superb.

So, the shows on KSCI are dark? Interesting. I've noticed that the shows on KTSF (the local Nor Cal Asian Station) are pretty grainy lately. As if the signal is getting weaker and weaker. I wonder if the small local stations are having trouble as everyone else gears up for the switch to high def digital.
