no.. just that ive been preety outdated.. i think i need to watch some more recent dramas so that i can have my share of opinions in this drama forum discussion.. no offence to older drama
* yeah ive watched taiyo no uta movie.. n im very much loving it _________________
I couldn't get into Nodame Cantabile or Nobuta wo Produce either. And I don't see why so many people are raving over those two series. I've watched them all in its entirety (just to make sure there wasn't some twist that made me do a 180 and completely change my views on it near the end) but there wasn't.
Nodame Cantabile---it focused on gags too much and too little on the emotions of the characters. And in the case of Chiaki...too MUCH on his problems (which were, for the most part, exaggerated [his fear of flying?]). I loved Ueno Juri, I loved the music from Nodame Cantabile, I just could never get into the plot or its main characters (other than Nodame).
Nobuta wo Produce --- I have no idea why people are raving about it as they are. Is it because it focuses more on friendship rather than love? The acting wasn't that great either in my opinion. Yamashita and Kamenashi play the same characters they always play in other dramas, and the storyline again, isn't anything special to begin with, and they didn't make it any special with the way they handled the series.
Comedies I found hilarious were:
Okane ga Nai!
Ousama no Restaurant
They're old and a bit hard to find, but they're gems. Okane ga Nai! especially. It made me a fan of Oda Yuuji (although he hasn't been in any good dramas lately [Last Christmas? Joudan Ja Nai? -_-" joudan ja nai! (anyone catch my lame pun here? XD)]

Hello everyone!
I haven't been on the board in a while but I am serching for some really funny "gut busting" crazy comdies to watch. I am seriously in the mood to laugh!
As for what I consider funny I have seen and loved :
Densha Otoko
My Boss, My Hero
Himitsu no Hanazono
Gal Circle
Kimi Wa Petto
Gokusen
HYD 1 & 2 (it had funny moments IMO!)
Trick (I am in the middle of it and it has some funny moments)
I absolutely could not get into :
Nodame Cantible
Nobuta Wo Produce (It was okay IMO)
I don't mind silliness if it is done well (ala Gal Circle) but I would love to see something as funny as Densha Otoko or My Boss My Hero! If it is subbed in English even better!

There is discussion on pre-2005 dramas: you just have to bring it up... I'm sure a lot of members here have seen stuff before that year and have talked about it in the past... Nothing wrong with resurrecting older dramas, especially the good ones.

Hmm.
The drama was, for the most part, strictly played for laughs so you can't expect a whole lotta depth of character... After all, this drama is nothing more than the manga come to life...

I totally understand how that is because I sometimes feel that way, especially with the quick-moving new drama topics--I'm wondering what I'm missing out on and I want to see for myself. Which is why I started to download a few drama series recently. _________________

Ohsama no Resutoran, made in 1995, is a superb series. It's witty, clever, and often times laugh-out-loud hilarious. Furthermore, the ensemble cast's performances are peerless. Koki Mitani, as his wont, delivered an intelligently written script, a characteristic which makes this series far superior imo to nearly all of the popular post-2000 comedies, at least the ones I attempted to watch or did end up finishing.
I haven't seen Okane ga Nai, but if you are looking for another good Oda Yuji dorama, I would recommend Odoru Daisousasen. Airing in 1997, it seamlessly combines comedy and drama with a terrific ensemble cast.

actually i prefer to the drama version, the movie version is good as a j-movie but the drama version even better IMO.
i just don't think that j-movie overall are interesting to watch, sometime they are a bit boring when there are so many silent scenes not like the drama that skip the unnecessary scene.

i haven't watch iryu so i'm not sure, but if u read it's reviews..it might be a very good drama.
But for kekkon dekinai otoko I assure u, it is very3x..good at least for me.
btw did u make ur choice by checking their award, i've notice that u pick iryu, kekkon dekinai, and nodame which three of them won award as the best drama of spring, summer, and fall 2006?
