I watched "Silk" this week. A Chinese/Japanese Ghost/Horror/Sci-fi movie featuring Eguchi Yosuke and a bunch of Chinese actors that I've never seen before.
Odd. There actually seemed to be some thought behind the story and plot line of this movie. Something I rarely see in Asian horror.
Now, moving away from "thought" and getting right to shallow goofyness... I also saw "Cutie Honey". A cosplay, manga based, action movie.
What to say about this one... Eriko Sato looked great. And I thought she managed to carry off the silly character.
And it was interesting to see Mikako Ichikawa (Kyoko from Kuitan) playing the tough cop. _________________

Hmm, that's an interesting turn.
I thought so. Sort of the same turn as seeing Kotomi Kyono play the tough cop in Kui-tan, after coming to know her best as the sweet innocent Tsukahara in the Shomuni series. _________________

Ah yes. Acting versatility.
Unlike some of the more touted, one-note actors in the J-drama galaxy...

Well, you have it now...so, you might as well watch it...Sorry, I just thought it wasn't very good...
Argh, I've got a dvd of this. I bought it because I love some of the soundtrack music, and also, I've seen good things written about it (not on Jdorama, obviously, lol).
I've actually been putting off watching All About Lily Chou-Chou because I understand it's depressing, and that worries me somewhat.

i recently had a chance to see 2 pretty good jpn movies:
Dororo - manga made into a movie. Sort of like azumi as a "made-up" historical piece. very much like azumi & kill bill sort of over the top violence.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dororo
and the other one:
ouGO!! ^C}V̓h (Baburu e Go! Taimu mashin wa doramu shiki - Bubble Fiction: Boom or Bust)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0906564/
Sort of like "Back to the future"-esque. Funny to see JPN reminesing about the 80s & 90's.

I just watched Tada, Kimi wo aishiteru (aka Heavenly Forest) 2006 and I have to say, I really enjoyed it.
It featured Miyazaki Aoi who did a terrific job, and the guy who played the young conductor in "Nodame Contabile". (I liked him a lot more in this than I did in Nodame.
The movie is a college love story with the same sort of feel as the series, "Orange Days" and the movie; "Joze to tora to sakana tachi (2003)
aka "Josee, the Tiger and the Fish".
The same style, the same feel... but not an imitation or a remake of either example. _________________

On the contrary.. I saw it and I didn't like it.
I liked Orange Days, and I don't see the comparison between the two.
I almost fell asleep on this one. Maybe I didn't like this movie because I expected too much.. but point is.. I don't think it's such a good movie. _________________
