FF IX was his last ff title. FFX is done by someone else. As far as I know hes the only one that left and but Im glad that the character designer Tetsuyo Nomura is still onboard. But still, Hinorobu Sakaguchi was always considered the main man to be resposible for delivering the great FF titles. But I hope that as you say, some of the classic feel will return. Any news on FFXI online? Heard it was already launched in Asia and USA but Im not sure.
FFXI has been around in the USA for quite a while now, at least over a few months. My friends have been addicted to it but my computer sucks so I can't play until I either build or buy a new one later this year. It looks great if your computer is powerful enough. The PS2 version is out also, but i do not want to shell out money for the game and harddrive.

My personal favorite was FFVIII simply because I was never fond of chibi action heroes (they seem like a contradiction to me), so I was excited about that. Also because I'm a sucker for romantic storylines and I LOVED the long ending sequence. At almost 20 minutes in length, it was nice to get a big reward after just spending dozens of hours of my time playing it. Plus, I found it quite challenging compared to FFVII.

Mine is VIII. Greatest storyline and characters till now in my opinion but Im sure there are people who think otherwise.
i like FF8 also!

But perhaps the poll should have offered more choices because the FF titles with the most fans are VI, VII & VIII. People often like one but not neccassarily the other, but hey a FF poll is nice anyway.

I'm old school. My fave was FF4J (FF2US). Not that I didn't like the new ones. I love most of em. But FF2 was the one that got me hooked. And the one that I played through the most. This is one of the only rpg's where I actually did speed runs. Heh.

Same, it's all about FFII-US. Porom and Palom man, that was a dramatic scene. ;_;

Even from graphic department Da VII series is not as bright as da other...but from da story point of view..it is complicatedly interesting...Not to mention dis sephiroth Charater....created perfectly as da bad guy..SO I go with VII
My favourite FF games have usually come from that 16-bit era and with such favourites as FFVI and FFIV, how can you go wrong? In total, I like the older FF games best, they were simple yet interesting for their time period and FFIV-FFVI was what I thought was Square's pinnacle of the series, minus FFVII.
Even as much as I loved FFVII, FFVI alone is one hell of a masterpiece, nuff said. The newer FF games haven't impressed me a whole lot though, with the exception of FFVII.

FF7 an exception? best F in my opinion, but square is really screwing up with the new FFs, i mean i cant wait to play em, but the older ones r much better. Take advent children for example, those of you who have seen the trailer might know what im talking about. FF7 was perfect, now square is about to release FFAC, which, judjing from the trailer, ruins the storyline of FF7. The entire trailer is battle, action and kinda dark. not saying its a bad thing, but if you look at it from a different prespective, it tottally sucks. U dont get anything, only 2 characters what can u expect apart from etarnal war. FF7 was great as it was, no need for a sequel. But AC screws up the best aspects of it, like seph death. Yes he was the best thing in FF7, but u know human psychology, people like happy endings, good guys win, bad guys lose, even if there had to be a few sacrifises made like Aerith (a helluva good sacrifise if u ask me, dispised her) or Tidus, Sin still died so they won in the end, but no, square has to cross the line creating some cockamanian outfits and crappy characters, which brings me to my next point. Why couldnt they include a single male? maybe some of us arent really hentai fans so at some point we would like a decent character, such as Auron (fine he's gone, but some like him). Whatever happened to overdirves? and blitzball? y'know what i mean by ruining the best aspects of the game? Last point is, Squares' staff. Uematsu was the man, his composition were simply outstanding, why did he leave? (BTW Sagaguchi didnt leave, now he's just executive producer). The one that makes the character design must be running ideas too, some of the characters just keep getting worse and worse and worse or gayer and gayer *cough*Tidus*cough*
don't get me wrong, im not some FF major critic. i adore the game, but in my opinion the older series were a tonne better than the newer ones
p.s FFXII don't look too promising either

never played any FF series. Only saw some footage of FFIX and the CG's are pretty cool, have yet to see the trailer for the FFVII movie.... _________________
Well, I personally liked old school FF's the best.
I've practicallly played all FF's and beaten most of them. The only one I have a problem with is 8...... I don't know why, that system really erks me.... not sure why FF7 people bash it so much, it was decent story wise, but again, the mechanics left alot to be desired

I actually liked FF9. I know a lot of people didn't though.
I didn't like FF8 that much. The draw system was soooooo retarded. They should have given you more per draw or something. The actual ideal of drawing magic was pretty cool, but it took forever to draw magic.
