Hey O-chan, if you like him that much, have you seen Heavenly Forest?
I think you'd really like it.
Erm.. how do I put this..? Uh, the way he looks so focused and so into what he's doing is just
Errr~ never mind.
Heavenly Forest? Yup, I've been wanting to see that. It's the one with Miyazaki Aoi, right? I was planning to watch it when semestral break starts, but now that you've recommended it... I think I'm going to watch it after Hana Kimi finishes. _________________

This is a very nice movie by any standard, as was Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu by the same author. I liked it enough to buy the book (Chinese translation thereof) and will read it sometime. It's a shame there is no photo book for this movie - I'd love to get my hands on it.

It's definitely worth watching...
I've mentioned it previously, but there are some interesting similarities between Miyazaki Aoi's character Shizuru and Juri-chan's Nodame... And they both share their affections for Tamaki Hiroshi's characters... That's a fascinating coincidence.
So I just finished watching this series and it was pretty awesome...and from what i heard, not everyone could actually play the instruments, like Mine's faking was pretty obvious. however, I can't believe Chiaki (Tamaki) wasn't an actual piano player..or that's what I gathered, because the pieces he played (like the Rachmaninov concerto) is extremely difficult....but I have a question.
Although they were given training, were most of the actors faking it? Even the entire orchestra? It must've taken a lot of coordination to get that many people to synchronize their bowings while faking it (I'm in an orchestra and we have plenty of problems with bowing even though we are actually playing the notes).

Glad you liked it. Not everyone is faking it. Most of the members of the orchestras (S-Oke and RS-Oke) are actual musicians auditioned for this drama. They are members of the Nodame Orchestra formed specifically for this drama, and performed most of the music in the drama (the rest was performed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra).
Unfortunately, the Special Disc in the Nodame box set didn't delve into whatever training any of the actors went through before and during the taping of the show, other than Tamaki Hiroshi and Juri-chan.
There could've (should've?) been a second Special Disc that really focused on the making of the drama... That would've been fascinating.

That's why I liked the Swing Girls special disc better - you get to see all the girls (and the boy) slugging it out.
