I've just started to watch this and like what I've seen so far. Completely opposite people finding that they have something in common. Like in Kamikaze Girls. Mr Green And the classical music is a plus cause I'm a classical music fan, especially piano. However, I'm watching this without subtitles and I'm having trouble understanding Stresseman (sp?) because of his pronounciation. I wonder if that's how I sound to Japanese people. Shocked I'm going to have to watch my intonation. Fingers crossed

You could download the drama and its corresponding subtitles from D-Addicts... But that would contradict your idea of trying to understand the drama without the subs... Sweat

Regarding the classical music, I liked classical music before Nodame, but now I love it: the musical pieces selected for the entire drama were well-chosen and fit perfectly... Terrific. Thumbsup

Pick the wrong music, and resulted into sleeping...
Trust me...

Most of the music was chosen by Ninomiya sensei - as in the pieces performed by Nodame, Chiaki, and the orchestras etc. The rest of the music helped to build/maintain the atmosphere of the scenes.

An excellent job... You'd think the music was written expressly for the drama itself... Thumbsup

Wow, what a list! Shocked Thanks for going to all that trouble but I can understand what Stresseman says if I listen to him 2 or 3 times. And I understand most (80-90%) of the other dialogue without subtitles.

I checked the synopsis on the following site just to see if I missed anything. (I didn't)
You should see this site yourself. It's done very well.

Some of the humor in this drama-comedy is in the language. Stresseman exaggerates the way most western foreigners speak Japanese--it sounds funny ( rofl ) even to me. And Nodame always talks in the the -desu/-masu polite form and refers to herself in the third person like an old fashioned Japanese person.

The show is quite enjoyable. I'm glad you guys turned me on to it. w00t!

Be sure to check out the link I posted to thtl . I think you'll like it.

Thank you for posting the link. In fact I do know of this site as soon as Garten posted her first review. Some of the comments were quite helpful in understanding the finer points of the musical performances.

Ah, yes.

I'm well aware of that site as well: very good synopses and screencaps (which I've posted here in the past... Rolling eyes)...

Glad you're enjoying the drama... w00t! Victory! Peace!
