They are Nero image files. But do you know what kind of files are in it? If it's an image of a vcd, then you can just burn the image in nero and it should play in your dvd player. Otherwise you have either extract the files or mount the image using virtual drive software. Then you can convert the files to vcd format and burn with nero.

What i would do is load the .nrg in nero, select the recorder to Image Recorder and burn the image into a .iso file. then u can open the iso using IsoBuster and extract the files onto the hard drive. once they're done, u can convert into any desired format.

there might be other better mothods, but this is on top pf my mind now.

.nrg is an image file.
please install nero. from there you can do the following:

1) burn the image file into a cd. if the original cd image is a vcd, then you will get a vcd
2) nero has a utility program called Nero Image Drive. you can mount the image file and you will be able to access the data in the image drive. it creates a virtual drive on your machine. this saves the problem of burning it onto a cdr.

Thanks for the info! Big Grin

Btw, I have 2 .dat files that are about 650MB. I was wondering, can I copy BOTH .dat files onto a cd-r and still be able to play it on DVD player? Or does VCD format only allow ONE .dat file on each cd-r? Sweat

VCDs can hold as many tracks as it can. The limit is actually the size of the tracks, which is 700MB total. Looking at two 650MB files, that's 1300MB. What I'd do is rip the files down even more (maybe lower the speed or number of frames/sec) so it's about 350MB each. You'd need to use a tool like TMPGEnc to do the ripping. You could possibly fit up to 800MB of data onto a 700MB VCD, but that's purely on a trial/error basis.

VCd recording is measured in minutes, up to 80 minutes usually the conversion for vcd is easy 650 mb dat/mpg = to 63/66 minutes

You can use VCDgear to convert ngr image to mpg

VCDgear for all your vcds uses Applaud

I'm using Nero 5 right now. The 2 .dat file combined together is 650MB. What I want to know is when I copy the files to the cd-r, do I choose to copy it as a data cd or a video cd. After I finish copying, with the 2 .dat files on the same cd-r, will I be able to play it on a DVD player?

Thanks.

Oh! Gotcha! It really depends on the DVD player. My older SONY DVD player would not. And also my $89.00 DVD/VCR combo does not play VCDs, even though it's less than 5 months old. So it really depends on the make/model, and you can't make any assumptions (age of the player, make, etc.) You must research it (good resource is www.dvdrhelp.com).

ok i have this cd that i want to burn and it tell me to:
"take the file.bin and file.cue from file.rar, burn the file.bin to a blank CD-R. You do this by using either Disc Juggler or Nero and load the file.cue. Once you have the disc burned, pop your new disc in your DVDplayer. The DVDplayer will then request that you put in a "UT_2000" cd. This is any of your DVDs. Enjoy!"
ok beign a total dork at burning stuff... ok i have nero and i open it the wizard pops up.. so here is my question.... how do I 'load' the file.cue file? and how do i make it burn the file.bin data???!?!?!... i've tried and tried.. but does any 1 have any ideas? ... i really need help burning this disc thank you very much for ur time.... If there's a topic similar to this already, just let me know and I'll delete this one.

I'm wondering if I'm able to copy dramas or variety shows I've downloaded from japan-tv and Public MM onto VCD or DVD and how do I do that? I like watching dramas on my TV in my room better than in the cold nasty computer room so I just wanted to know if anyone knows how to do this. Thank you Mr Green

You can turn the avi's into vcd but you lose a lot of quality but the process is very easy. You use TMPGEnc and it will convert your avi to mpeg. Then all you have to do is use Nero or whatever you use to burn it onto vcd. Big Grin If you need further help just let me know... ill try to help ya... hehe

Also, check out http://www.dvdrhelp.com/ to browse the many documents on just TMPGEnc alone.

I downloaded TMPGEnc and made a .avi into a .mpg, and the sound works fine but the picture is just black and then it flashes green sometimes. Do you know what made that happen and how I can fix it?
