Just received shipment of the following goodies:
Teru Teru Kazoku DVD
Deguchi no Nai Umi DVD
Bokutachi no Sensou DVD
I'll probably rip some behind-the-scenes footages and post them before the week is out.
I flicked through the above yesterday. Here's a summary:
1. Teru Teru Kazoku
Instead of calling it an excerpt, I think it is fairer to describe this as a compressed version of the original broadcast. While I have never watched all 150 episodes - in fact I haven't even watched one complete episode, as they are nowhere to be found - the DVD seemed to have trimmed the original storyline to keep the plot tight. Some side plots got taken out along the way - for instance Akiko (Juri-sama) was supposed to be an inspiration to the invention of the quick noodle but this part seemed to be missing.
The dialogue sounded quite clear to me and if I turn the subtitles on, I could understand about 75% of the conversation.
2. Deguchi no Nai Umi
I just went through the packaging and took a quick peek in the extras disc. The packaging was very nice and include the following items:
- The movie disc
- The extras disc
- A pair of 3-D glasses (paper and cellophane)
- A CD of Ravel's Bolero
- Introduction booklet
I suppose there are scenes in the movie done in 3-D cinematography, which is probably why the glasses was included. 'Bolero' was a theme used in the movie, separate from the OST. The booklet contains quite a bit of information, especially on the Kaiten (the human torpedo).
Most of the contents of the extras disc are interviews of the director, the cast, and an authority on the Kaiten. Juri-sama did not get an interview on her own but there was footage of the press meeting in which she appeared.
3. Bokutachi no Sensou
The DVD box was very nicely printed but not much in the way of contents - just the movie disc and an extras disc. There is quite a few behind the scenes footages and Juri-sama was really cute in couple of them. I'm going to rip this (about 35 minutes) and post a link later on.
