I do know that a Taiga is a period drama, not set in present day and not similar to the "idol" dramas we see today.
exactly.
the average 16 year old girl wouldnt watch a taiga drama. especially not one with 49 episodes. i cant do it and i love that kind of stuff _________________

Hmm. Since I broke the news of Matsuda Shota's casting alongside Maki, I can't say I'm not looking forward to how they act off each other. Shota's been an actor I've been watching quietly ever since I first saw him (and his older brother) appear on the scene.
I'm not brain-dead, nor am I a fangirl (I'm in my 20's, passed 'girl'hood quite a while back), and I love historical fiction - if D-addicts provides a raw and there is a fansubber group willing enough to sub or even provide a summary of the many episodes that this drama is going to span, I'm up for watching all of them.

i was 14 when i watched shinsengumi and no, it was not because of shingo. i didn't even know who shingo was. but shinsengumi had "comedic" moments that weren't usually done in taigas.
as long as the story's interesting people of different ages will watch it. i just hope there won't be too many long scenes of 10 gruff looking men discussing what so and so lord said. it's like a very long and uninteresting gossip session. but what's a taiga without all the politics. since maki isn't the lead she probably won't even appear until maybe 10 episodes in.
i'm sure atsuhime will have english hardsubs but whether or not somebody will upload the episodes is another thing _________________

I don't know if it's the same thing, but there's an anime here and something that looks like a photobook here (5th one, top right). It's her name just above. _________________

Lol, where have you been? That was on the 6th! Thanks for the pic, I'll take any Maki one's from her birthday since there wasn't that much coverage.
Who is she cele-berating?

don't kill the messenger i'm just posting pictures that you ardent fans might find enjoyable.
i think she's a pretty good actress but i'm not overly zealous about it. truthfully i've only seen her in three productions.
-nobuta
-kurosagi (couldn't finish it)
-always san chome (a film)
she was good in nobuta and great in san chome....her performance in kurosagi was wack...but i attribute that more to her being miscast and the ridiculously unbelievable storyline.

Haha, I'm not. I am very grateful for your messaging
I agree about Nobuta, haven't seen Always (which I really need to), and am watching Kurosagi right now. I am enjoying Kurosagi for the most part. Yeah the storyline isn't that believable and her role is rather odd but I think for what it is, she plays it well.

I just don't buy her as a law student...perhaps I'm being too anal but I know what it takes to be a law student in Japan from reading how difficult it is while in school.
Always San Chome won her the best newcomer award at the Japanese Academy Awards..kurosagi was bleh.....

Lol, speaking of law student... I heard somewhere that Maki took and passed the entrance exams to Chuo University, which is known for it's law school...

Cool...university exams are one thing...the exam to become a licensed attorney in japan is a whole other ball of wax...
So is she attending university while acting...or is she just acting at attending university....going to school for her would be a matter of personal fulfillment..doubtful she would get a job that earns her the same dough she's earning now...
