The 2 hr season premiere of 'Iryu 2' is not bad, in fact most people lauded it as more exciting than any ep. in season 1. I didn't think it was that great. It basically followed in the same mold as the last 2 ep. of season 1 (where it deviated from the manga); just more melodrama, more difficult surgeries(and lots of them). There's just something amiss that I can't pinpoint at the moment; the original script, the 'deja vu'-ness, the logic (or lack of it), the sappy melodrama, the music, the lack of edginess and aplomb that season 1 possessed in abundance, etc.. It's like I'm watching it as a casual bystander devoid of emotion.
Sounds like it may be what I was slightly afraid of: the absense of Inamori Izumi's character of Katou Aki may have not filled out as well as it could've with Uchida Yuki's new role. The somewhat icy nature of Katou was a balance to the rest of the cast really, and with the replacement being one whom is known for...well, not being that...left me kinda worried.
I'm coming into the 2nd season fully preparing myself for it to be more of the same and possibly not meeting expectations, since that's what basically all other series with more than one season usually does, lol. After watching a full 12 hours of it before, running into the next season kinda will blur the lines (I know I did, I watched the first 10 minutes after finishing up the finale of Season 1 for the second time and it felt that way, lol).

'Mop Girl' seems to be ok if you're looking for light entertainment and are a fan of Kitagawa.
I'm expecting it to be a ripoff of 'Tru Calling' with Kitagawa replacing Eliza Dushku. I liked that show somewhat, and since we're adding Japanese pop culture references and I am a fan of Kitagawa, sounds like this one'll at least be a counterbalance to the potential over-dramaticism that Iryu 2 will have.

'Dream again'...well, just say I'll reserve my comments until I've watched a few more episodes.
Perfectly understandable. I'm basically only watching the series for Sorimachi, otherwise I probably would've avoided the "Heaven Can Wait" Japanese style (hmmm, seems the J-Drama this season is dipping too much into Western culture again...no wonder the shows don't seem all that promising, lol). If it doesn't turn around, I have no problem abandoning ship.

'Utahime' I've no idea where the story is heading because I fast forwarded a lot; may be I should go back and rewatch it after I've accumulated a few more episodes.
Hmmm, well either the pacing is slow or you're too impatient, lol. That's okay, I felt the same way about Tiger & Dragon until I slowed my ass down and actually watched the show. Thought it was boring until I paid attention to the details.

'Hataraki Man' is very disappointing; I'll give it another 2 episodes.
I was going to start watching that, maybe I should try out the first episode to see if I agree or not. I'll take your word for it though, it didn't seem all that good on paper either.
Overall...well, I'm not that surprised, since the fall season seemed rather weak in the first place. At least there will be one series to rely on as not being absolutely horrible. The rest...well, I can always find shows I haven't watched yet.

that's the only role she knows how to play...definition of a bad actress.
Well funny that weLre talking about Fukada Kyoko - just started to watch Kamisama, mou sukoshi dake and I was kind of annoyed by the voice of the leading actress - it was only at the end of episode 3 when I realised it was Kiki-chan, and everything made sense then.
But to be fair, it was KikiLs least worst drama - and her whining makes a bit sense in this drama.

I saw that drama...I felt bad for Kaneshiro Takeshi for having to act alongside Fukaka....

you're being too harsh!
if she had a different personality, she'd be kinda cute.. and besides, you could take her to an onsen, and at night you could nibble on her daikon aishi if you got hungry. have a few bottles of sake ready and it'd be like sleeping with an oden cart.

you crazy, man...
I surrender to your superior humor.
All kidding aside, I've never seen Kamikaze Girls, I heard she received critical acclaim for that role.
