Hitler was a maniac, just like the Iranian president. He didn't just go after who disagreed, but after everyone who didn't fit into his crazy "fantasies" of Aryan... stuff (no matter how idiotic, people still bought into it.)

'Sides, cleansing the world of everyone who disagrees with you is a) extremely undemocratic and b) horribly uncivilized. Cleansing the world of someone who's a threat, yes, that's fine, but just a mere disagreement? Uhmm, no. And trust me, the Jews, Sinti and Roma, homosexuals, etc, didn't end up in the camps for disagreeing with the little wannabe painter from Upper Austria.

Though, it fits into what I once told a friend of mine. Most Hitler or even Rommel worshipping comes from people from overseas, who usually lack authentic sources (they usually have to rely on translations, and those often lack the punch of the original are toned down or outright false.)

And yes, I do read a lot of history books. I even have "Mein Kampf" lurking around. Quite interesting read, and after reading it twice I must say that all the "excuses" used after the war were really just lame BS. It's all there written down, everything he wanted to do. No one can tell me that they didn't know or didn't expect this to happen when it's all written down in the Nazis' "bible" which everyone was supposed to own and to read.

Why would someone have Hitler as idol, I don't know. But let me just say this. If, under Hitler, you were not part of the odd group called "Volksgemeinschaft" (more or less the community of the people, but the translation's lacking there already, the Volksgemeinschaft is more specifically the community and unity of the Aryan German people) and not "Aryan" (no matter how idiotic the definition), you were usually a "Volksschädling" -vermin, quite literally, "Schädling" means vermin, in this case a vermin to the people. And that got you locked up in "lovely" places like Dachau or Auschwitz within a second. So... you probably might want to reconsider your idols.

Then again... I rather take Hitler over Stalin or Mao... if we go just by the number of people they killed.

Hmm, anyway...

I just read "Shogun" and Clavell somewhere there. Been a while since I read it and I could still beat Clavell for turning Hosokawa Gracia into Blackthorne's bed bunny Mariko. YIKES! That's just so wrong in so many ways. Funny though, I can live with the other errors (like some names, Kasigi Yabu, or that he mentions judo, or even the use of -san), but that one... argh... It just doesn't fit.

If you're interested in the true story of William Adams (who Clavell based Blackthorne upon) I suggest "Samurai William: The Englishman Who Opened Japan" by Giles Milton.

Yes, Islam IS a peaceful religion. What I don't understand is that if you TRULY understand Islam... why do you hate the Jewish? Aren't you then going against the Islamic values you're listing? If you truly "know" about Islam, you would never "hate" other religious groups.

You really need to consider what you're saying because right now you're coming off as quite an ignorant individual.

I think it's time to put an end to this discussion, particularly in this thread.

I've been reading a couple of books on random Japanese topics. Interesting facts that probably have absolutely no use (for me) in everyday life. Very entertaining nevertheless.

If you don't let people talk,

If you're unwilling to listen to what they have to say,

You won't know what they think.

Until it's too late.
