Alrighty, so my plan to visit Japan in March 2009 is actually 90% on the go. Right now, for 9-10 days, I'm looking at $3200. Is that expensive? Or in ithe right ball park? I wanna know if I'm being ripped off. Here's the Itinerary:
Considering you're going during spring break, it's really cheap. I haven't seen anything below $1800 and that's only for the plane tickets. Since you're going with a group, it's surely cheaper than if you took the package alone.
Am I too late go to your school to join your group? I can skip the math and geography classes, but I could use a few refresher courses of home economics. _________________

I haven't check those out in 6 months tho. Probably cheaper now. I know some people who went to South Korea 2 months ago and their tickets were almost $2000.

That's cheaper. 1 bag of corn (to feed the chicken in the plane), 1 bag of rice (for the movie and headphones), 1 bottle of hair gel - industrial strength (for the great leader), 1 corpse (to make burgers for the population) and one kilo of weapon grade uranium to pay for the trip. _________________

@Wynter: I don't know which agency you inquired at, but if you didn't, try IACE. The Toronto number is (416) 324-9101, http://www.iace-canada.com/ (in Japanese). I'm sure they are able to speak English. They might have better/cheaper tour packages. If I remember more, I'll post them here. Most of the ones I know are based in America.
Right now, airfare from Toronto to Japan can be found for less than $900 CND, 7-day advanced bookings. Honestly, I don't think it will be significantly higher during the spring time. Now for summer....that's a different question.

Giving serious consideration to going to Tokyo Disney Park & Tokyo Disney Sea for New Year's Eve, since almost everything worth seeing and doing in Tokyo is closed on (12/30 - 1/3).

For anyone traveling to Japan before the middle of January (2008) and would like to tour Akihabara, there is a free tour available:
http://www.akihabara-tour.com/en/index.htm
The tour lasts two hours and it happens on Saturdays only.

OMG Thank you! I'll try calling them tomorrow. _________________
I also recommend Sunrise Tours, a travel service for foreigners travelling in Japan (can be booked only in Japan) - I found it often cheaper than organising trips by myself.
