If you haven't seen it yet (and since it's getting to that time of year), Last Christmas is an extremely good romantic comedy. Plus, it's overflowing with 80s pop awesomeness!

I was the same when I watched it but later on you'll get hooked. A really beautiful drama. One of the best I've seen actually.
Mr Green

Can anyone recommend a good romance-based drama? It's been a long time since I've seen one. Watching action/mystery/suspense dramas a lot these days.

Nodame Cantabile and My Boss My Hero come to my mind immediately.
I recommend you start with those, and go from there. I would also recommend Ruri no Shima, a very quiet drama, but beautifully shot.

I'd highly recommend watching Last Christmas once the holiday season gets near, it's one of those that I watched with my wife around that time last year and she loved it.

Also, I can never say enough good things about Iryu and Odoru Daisousasen, both have strong casts and storylines that'll suck you in.

I agree with checking out Nodame Catabile and My Boss My Hero, they both are great, but if you're not minding of the overdone pretty boy treatment, Hanazakari no Kimitachi e was a constant riot for me when I watched it.

Hope that helps!

I'm in a depressed mood, so I'm looking for some depressing dramas since I like to dwell in this type of mood (yes, I'm weird). Any suggestions?

Just in case it gets too depressing, I'm also looking for some happy dramas too.

Hi, I'm interested in all kinds of series that have something to do with music, musicians, bands etc. I haven't really found anything too related to the theme yet. Any recommendations?

Also, what series are there that have a gay theme? Gay romance and drama are my secret weak spots. n_n;;

Crossdressing (and other things related) is fine too. Princess Princess D live action was so crackbrained that it was actually very entertaining. :DDD

Well, 90% of the post-2000 dorama series I've seen are depressing, but that's because of poor scripts and lousy acting.

I don't know if "depressing" is the right adjective, but a post-2000 dorama that I thought was excellent and likened it to a Shakespearean tragedy was Shiroi Kyoto (2003).

Watching Tomoko Yamaguchi series, especially Ohsama no Resutoran and Sweet Home, make me very happy.

Nodame Cantabile is a comical love story in a music college setting - lots of classical music.

Enka no Jyoou is about Enka - kind of old Japanese folk if you don't already know. I haven't watched it yet but there should be some music in it.

May I suggest a movie - Tada, Kimi wo Aishiteru (Renai Shashin) - if you haven't watched it already. It's not depressing at all, more bitter sweet. But there is a sense of fatality and finality that goes well with someone looking to get depressed, albeit not enough to send her jumping off a cliff.

It's so good I'm debating (with myself) whether to purchase the original DVD from Amazon.

hi there,

i'm new to this commmunity, but i have a little favour to ask, is there any of Jdorama ( romantic- love ) story which has a storng ambision in live fact... and never give up on situation ??

i have already see most of jDorama i watch is merely just a fluke coincidence that just like watching a fantasy... wasn't more like true life or near our life fact in deed.

if anyone could reccomend me something taht worth to watch.. ??
thx in advanced....

i like kurosagi which is more near to real life, where a lot of swindler around and we never thought untill we've been swindled, but in this part i don't like it always have a circular coincidence in the other parts/episode.

i don't like a legend/history type of drama, i'll be gratefull if there anyone could help me.

thx in advanced

Archie
