Right. Look at the original post--they're all Japanese female models. Then there was an overwhelming demand to see men. But then, there are no Japanese male model agencies so you have to make do with white boys. In the calendar above there's a Chinese fella.

It is pretty tough for male models in general (we get paid HALF of what the female models get, this is so UNFAIR), especially Asian male models, this is definitely not the market for it. Asians are not mainstream, nor exotic here.

Oh by the way, most of the male models I know are not gay like you would think, they are just very open, , or career minded. There is someone (no name mentioned) from Major models I saw at the Gucci party a couple of months ago who is dating a Sugar Mama (this is more the trend). It is a screwed up industry I tell ya. The writer of American Psycho wrote a novel on models (forgot the name), but it was dead on accurate.

Nope, not men at least. Not in a country where the only Oriental male selection in the People Magazine's 50 Sexiest Men issue in 2002 was YoYo Ma.

I was told by major agencies that I would never work in high fashion because they don't like full-blooded Orientals so I should stick to doing commercial modeling. I did quite a few romance novels though.

Actually, they like full blooded orientals who look like full blooded orientals (hint Lucy Liu, you know, the typical not-so-attractive asians stereotype image in the U.S.). I have actually been told that I don't look Asian enough, , outrageous.

Bottomline, the modeling industry is very racist in America (as in loving White, Black, and Latino, and ignore Asians). Same thing in the acting industry. Little do they know about the Charisma of Asians. Go Asians!

Romance novels huh? Do you look like Fabio? Well, I do mostly runway and print stuff and get paid half of the female model's salary, .
