Hm.. well I did enjoy 1 and 2.. but to be honest, I only watched the 2nd season because of the cute boys.. I hope the 3rd season will have more new topics..
Her acting career must be on the downhill if she's willing to play Yankumi for a third time....

Who knows, maybe she'll be teaching girls this time ;P
Haha...I don't think it's about that....it's a matter of her stagnating as an actress....i mean the gakuin dorama (school drama) genre is so glutted and she is appearing stuck in that glut. Someone of her stature should be moving beyound such roles

I did mention a few pages back.. just a random thought that maybe the person who made this thread had a feeling there will be a third season..
becasue the thread title is "gokusen 1,2 etc" ne?? etc.. which means.. many more..
OK--I'm back in the fray! I can't have dear Matsumoto Jun maligned like this! BMW Racer, this is for you:
Matsumoto-san did an excellent job portraying Sawada Shin! He was versatile in his breadth of emotional expression. He embodied the rage of Sawada at the beginning of the series, the shy pretense of indifference as his trust and warmth for Yankumi slowly and tentatively began to grow, the expression of anguish due to her dismissal from Shirokin, subtle desperation when begging Yankumi not to reveal his sister's mistake at going to the bar, and his expression of joy when he was reinstated into Shirokin after his expulsion. These are just a few examples. He is not merely a pretty face, and should not be so easily dismissed as such!
I think you delight in taunting the young fans by attempting to place him in the same category as the talentless bishonen in some of the other jdoromas. (Oops, now I just stepped on someone's toes, I'm sure! )

I can see your points and they're justified to a degree... It's just that what I've incessantly read in this thread is how kawaii/kakkoi/etc. he is with very little mention of his acting... You're one of the few (if not the only one) to look beyond the feathered hair and bad-boy attitude/angst which is so prevalent in these pretty boy-infused dramas.
That said, this drama still rests all on Nakama Yukie's shoulders: she's the focal point and she's the one who makes this plot and drama work... If Matsujun was the key to this drama, they should've brought him back for G2, not Nakama, but we all know that's not the case...
I have mixed feelings about Gokusen 3. I'm wondering how it's possible to make it novel and interesting. I think the only way to do so is to have interesting characters portrayed by excellent actors. I'm hoping that they can pull it off, but afraid that it's an uphill battle.
I wonder if they intend to follow the manga, and if so, is there enough in the manga to fill another season? (I'm not familiar enough with the manga.)
Oh, you know who I would like to see in Gokusen 3 in ANY capacity? He's the actor who played in Hana York Dango--the guy who "befriended" Tsukushi with the intent to get back at Domyoji. Whoever that is is fascinating to watch.
Wow. I never thought they'd actually attempt Gokusen 3. I'm excited and doubtful all at the same time. I guess we'll have to see, huh?
