I made a post with some dramas that you might be interested here:
http://jdorama.com/viewtopic.php?p=743801#743801

If you want supernatural stuff, there's also Ringu Saishusho (the drama version of the movie) and also Rasen as well.

i would recommend OSHIN, which i think is the best japanese drama of all time. i watched this when i was a kid, and everyone in my family loved it. i think she was such a legend, almost all of the older generation knows her. but i dont know whether this drama is available anymore or not. plus it has many episodes, unlike recent jdorama.

Well the primary demographic for doramas is probably young women....so I doubt they'd want to see a bunch of girls drooling over one guy....it wouldn't be very appealing to them so as to grab ratings.

Harem animes are targeted at anime otaku...which is a totally different demographic.

Can anyone recommend any good, relatively new psychological thriller doramas? Thanks Smile

I might check that one out, I've been looking for something more dramatic though. I like doramas that bring me to tears.

Yasashii Jikon is wonderful. And you have to be awfully hardhearted not to cry every episode. Yet the series is NOT depressing. Amazing. Applaud

@ Monta-Dragon Zak is certainly a comedy. I really enjoyed it.

@Beem-And Abe's gleuts too! Wink

Also, if there is any Go playing or homosexual content I will be very happy. Thanks.

DonLt know about Go but homosexuality seems to be a red flag in Japanese dramas.
Ningen shikkaku (currently being subbed) and the upcoming Last Friends may or may not touch the subject.

I cant think of any that fit those categories in drama, though I do know a great Go anime, Hikaru No Go, and several Yaoi animes, too many too list.

From what I've seen most (all?) of the time, homosexuality is played for laughs (Masumi from Nodame comes to mind) and never treated very seriously...

True, but Nodame is originally a manga, a comic one at that, so....there is that to factor in.

The only doramas that I can think of off hand that have gay characters are Oyaji and Dare Yori mo Mama wo Aisu.

The nurse in Hana Kimi was rather off hand as well.

I Love Hikaru no Go. I have the anime and the manga. I also have some yaoi animes and a few (dozen) manga.

I think that the voices and intonations in Dorama are more like regular speach than in most animes. My teachers also reccomend dorama over anime for language learning. So, so now I am focusing on watching dorama Smile

That is sad to hear. In the Antinque Bakery dorama they de-gayed a main charcter. *sobs* However, in the upcoming Antique Baker anime it has been promised that Ohno-san will stay gay!

Err... anyway, probably should not start rambling roo much about anime on a Dorama site Smile
