Nice first episode! I loved the opening! I'm starting to get sick of all Masami's cutesy innocent characters though. But everyone else was great. And I understood nearly all of it! Maybe my dreams of becoming a subber are closer than I thought!

Some people do end up being type casted, reading some of her pre-show interview, seems like she thinks that this role a challenge for her, playing a victim.

Of course the most juicy role belongs to the amazing Ueno Juri and her guts to take on this character, AND doing a great job with it. Naughty

As totally biased as it sounds, I have to agree... Juri-chan's definitely a risk taker... Victory! Peace!

Let's hope the writer's have made the story and her character more than a gimmick and/or a one-trick pony. Fingers crossed

Yeah.. that's my concern - we'll have to see how far they take it. It does seem like there's a trap for her here - also an opportunity to plumb some new depths though

I don't mind Masami's cutesy characters but I really dislike the curly hair she has right now, only when its hair down though, when it's tied up she looks fine...

but yes! i would agree, too many pre-taping bento Mr Green

With Juri-chan in it, I was already interested in seeing this drama, but that last scene in the first episode has me wanting to see much more! Just hoping there's substance and not just for the sake of surprises.

Yeah, a number of us are wondering about that.... Sweat

At least they got it out of the way in the very first episode. Victory! Peace!

Out of the way? Man, I'll take more. Mr Green As surprising as that last scene was, certainly they'll have to dig a little deeper, else it's all for naught. From reading the other comments here, it looks like there's quite a few people who'll be watching closely as well. Nice first episode, and certainly can't wait for the next.

Absoutely. Victory! Peace!

I really feel for the Ruka character: the anxiety, torment, etc... I guess because it's Juri-chan... Beaten

Ooh. I'm gonna get in trouble for this one:

I just glanced through the unsubbed version (I didn't watch the whole thing, but thought I had a duty to keep up with the discussion) and I have to admit a certain skepticism so far. I'm a pretty harsh critic and kinda anti-fanboy (usually) so I'm often hard on things I expect to like. I definitely want to see the subtitled version to make a better response, but I felt like what I saw was kinda stale. I was kinda disappointed with the other two from Nodame (I can't remember their names Kiyora and Mine)). Also, I'm afraid that Juri may not have the serious acting chops as I saw a few scenes which made me cringe (granted.. they were there in Nodame too, but it wasn't like this) It is very wordy though and I could be missing a lot of it for lack of language context.

It is often true that first episodes are poor representations of the whole - you have to make the basic introductions and establish relationship basics.
