I watched the 9th episode of Jigoku blahblahblah last night. It kind of grew on me, but it's still a so-so drama. Thank goodness my Shiro finally showed up (he was only in the first episode! Sad) to amuse me, but only for a minute. =T

Watched the first episode of Asakusa Fukumaru Ryokan season 2 tonight. I liked it. Smile It's a nice heartwarming family/inn drama and reminded me slightly of the Onsen e Ikou series. It was amusing to see Tennouji-sama of Hana Kimi fame as the son. He's like a better looking version of Domoto Tsuyoshi. hehe

Currently all set to start episode 2 of Nobuta wo Produce. Watched the first episode of that a week or so ago, but got too caught up watching the remaining episodes/specials of Nodame in between.

All clear now.

Currently trying to gather up the enthusiasm to finish Proposal Daisakusen, which is kind of slow-paced for me. xD I'm also about to watch GTO (and, sadly, no I have never watched it before, which is why I'm doing so right now xD). I'm looking for a DVD of Stand UP!!, Kimi wa Petto, and Yamada Taro Monogatari, but I can't find any. MySoju isn't cooperating either. D:

I suppose this is something people from the Philippines have to put up with all the time, since Korean Dramas are more prominent here than J-Dramas (although they're showing those too, just not as much). I'm looking forward to GTO, however, because I know they have a DVD of that for sure. xD

cori

Jigoku blahblahblah. Is the the "Hell Girl" thing with Sugimoto Aya?

Yeah, if so I wasn't able to make it past the first episode with that one.

I just finished up "Shika Otoko Aoniyoshi"

http://jdorama.com/drama.1249.htm

I really don't have anything bad to say about it. But then again... I don't have anything particularly good to say either.

Silly premise. Manufactured drama. Telegraphed plot twists.

The actors were all quite good. And the anamatronic deer wasn't a deal breaker.

Ah. Maybe I'm just getting too jaded in my old age.

As to the other show I've been watching. LxIxVxE. This is a pretty dull show. The question now is... how stubborn am I? Will I really force myself to watch all of it?

The Jigoku show is the Double Kitchen wannabe drama with Esumi Makiko & Nogiwa Yoko. It's an "eh" drama, but I'm still watching it.

I heard that a lot of people liked Shika Otoko Aoniyoshi, so I wanted to check it out when I can actually find time to spare. Sounds a bit cheesy from your description though.

And I saw LxIxVxE when it aired on KIKU long ago and I agree that it was a really dull drama. I think it should've been called DxExAxD instead. hehe The only storyline I liked was Hitoe's (the sax player). That role made me like her the best of all the SPEED girls.

Geezer this is the drama cori's talking about:http://www.jdorama.com/drama_1187.htm Basically Double Kitchen but with a different newlywed couple. Kind of like remaking The Honeymooners only with all the original cast except Jackie Gleason and Audrey Meadows. Not a real good idea and not a real good drama.

Ok, checked into another oldie tonight called The Family/Uogokoro Areba Yomegokoro.
It is a charming slow paced family drama, filmed in an old section of Tokyo. The premise is of a not so young man wanting to marry a woman older than himself. The ensemble cast in terrific. I found it drew me in. On ep. 3..... It has been a good week for drama. Thumbsup

Cori, Don't let Geezer influence you too much...

I thought Shika Otoko Aoniyoshi was one of the best dramas I've seen in a long time...it made amazing use of Japanese history and mythology to create a great story...
Where else are you going find a drama based in Nara, talking snide animals, a milllenia old archaelogical mystery, one of the most exciting kendo competions you'll ever see, a desparate race to stop the destruction of Japan...
and the best performance by Ayase Haruka ever...even better than Hotaru no Hikari...

Oh please. If I had any influence over anyone there'd never be another Japanese Medical drama... and all melo drama would carry a prison sentence.

I'll try to get on the bamwagon when I get home.
