hi everyone,

i'm a regular poster at the yukie nakama thread, but i've been a longtime jpop fan since ten years ago.

i'd like to share my recommended jpop artists/songs (mostly from the 90s):

-PUFFY: of course, jpop won't be complete without them. i enjoy listening to their earlier songs, but their new ones are also great and fun. they haven't lost their charm since their debut.
recommended album: JETCD
recommended song: puffy de rumba

-SPITZ: the best group to listen to when you're on a long trip. their songs are full of emotions.
recommended album: RECYCLE-greatest hits

-SPEED: one of the best girl groups from the 90s. nice songs, plus takako uehara.
recommended album: RISE
recommended song: white love

-BONNIE PINK: beautiful voice. great hair.
recommended songs: it's gonna rain, heaven's kitchen

-NORIKO SAKAI: definitely. her voice and songs have magic.
recommended album: IN SNOWFLAKES
recommended songs: aoi usagi, kagami no doresu

-IKIMONOGAKARI: one of the best bands in recent times. kiyoe's voice is soothing, and the songs are well-written.
recommended album: SAKURASAKU MACHI MONOGATARI
recommended song: sakura

hope you enjoy listening to those songs!

Hi nightvisiongoggles! Dancing I sampled some of your recommendations on Last.fm.
I don't much like Puffy, I'm sorry to say. I don't like the vocals. Sweat Except I quite like LOVE SO PURE that I'm listening to now. It reminds me a little of American band Veruca Salt.
Spitz - never much liked what I've heard of them. They just sound very average to me. And Speed aren't my thing.

Bonnie Pink - I know and adore her! The two songs you mentioned are fabulous. I would also pick out songs like So Wonderful, Broken hearts, citylights and me just thinking aloud, Imagination, Gimme A Beat, Do You Crash?, Only For Him and ooh, loads of other songs. She's brilliant.
Lol, she has got nice hair, hasn't she? Mr Green

Hmm, can't find last two artists' samples on Last.fm.
Thank you for your suggestions! Victory! Peace!

@ Monta - couldn't download file properly, for some reason.

Maybe you can search for them using Japanese characters. I'd post them, but I'm on a computer that can't type out Japanese. =T

Of course. *goes off to try to find Japanese names* Victory! Peace!

Edited to add: @q and ̂ are on Last.fm, but no samples. I'll probably check them out on YouTube. Not tonight, as it's late now.

If you can't find anything, I got that Sakai Noriko "In Snowflakes" album and an Ikimonogakari album. Just let me know if you want me to up any of those. Smile

Thank you, but having just checked out these two acts on YouTube, I don't think they are my cup of tea. Big Grin

new stuff!

Bonnie Pink - Ring a Bell

it was actually released in the US, as the sound track for xbox360 game Tales of Vesperia

link: http://sharebee.com/724d134a

hmm... just when i finished my national exams, there's a couple of interesting releases this Wednesday Rolly , except for Tamaki Nami's new album with that crappy dance song thingy with that da pump guy... hideous song.

*edit* comment: wew... the whole song is actually in engrish! >i actually realized it after like nearly 2 minutes Beaten< .

when i hear the song, i always imagine it's like i'md doing an exchange thing for like a year in Japan, and then they sang me a farewell song. I'd freakin cry if they sang me this song Beaten

so you like the rock touch of J&M cori? i always thought the style of her solos are very different to J&M.

Yup, they were one of the first Jpop bands that I got into back in 1996 or 1997. I adored Yuki when she was in JAM, but not so much her solo stuff because it bores me, with the exception of a few songs.

@ Cori - thanks for the links. ...I don't think I'm going to be a fan, though. Sweat The vocals annoyed me too much.
The videos are great, though - lots of fun. (Well, the ones I could get to work were - either YouTube is acting up, or my laptop is).
I appreciate the effort you've made. Victory! Peace!

@ Monta - thank you. I like the song, but for me, it's far from Bonnie's best.
Her voice sounded different somehow - weaker, maybe.

That kind of amused me because although I loved JAM, I couldn't stand YUKI's solo stuff because her vocals irritated me. Bleah I think it's because JAM's music was loud and camouflaged her annoying high-pitched vocals. hehe

Have you checked out Kimura Kaela's stuff though? I think her songs are quite addicting and her PVs are fun too. Check out her songs "Jasper" and "Magic Music" if you haven't already. Dancing Her latest album (+1) is awesome and I've been listening to it for these past couple weeks. Hm..now that I think about it, try listening to all of her albums because they're great. Victory! Peace!

That's why I'm not her BIGGEST fan (I wish I am!!!) coz I never listens to her earlier songs (album/single version) except for Can you celebrate?... I only heard of her earlier material from her LIVE/CONCERTs performances....

Out of Namie topic... I'm CRAZY about RADWIMPS but it's hard to get their info and lyrics... even I got the lyrics, I can't match which song it represent coz I can't read Japanese... It takes me 2 days of googling to get the DL (i don't use BT)....

You already have their mp3s?

This site has some PVs & mp3s and lyrics. It has translations too.

I like RADWIMPS too. 25 Kome no Senshoku Tai is one of my favorite w00t!

Recommend:

Ketsumeishi, my favorite song is Train, but they have a lot of great songs.

GreeeeN - Tabidachi

Spitz - Spica, Ai No Kotoba

GOING UNDER GROUND - Hatsukoi, a good remake.

Sunset Swish - My Pace, Arigatou

Suemitsu & The Suemith- their album SHOCK ON THE PIANO is quite good.

Acidman - So Far, can't take song off my head.

I keep meaning to check Kaela out, as one of my Last.fm pals is a major fan. But I haven't yet. Oops. Sweat

CHECK KAELA OUT NOW!!! Beat You But no pressure. Mr Green Beaten

And right now I'm listening to Perfume's album. It's fun, it's techno-ish, it's cute, it's addicting, but a bit too embarassing to listen to in a doctor's office. Sweat Ah, no one's really showing up today, so I don't care. Mr Green
