just finished Final Fantasy VI Advanced on the emulator...
with a walkthrough . started on sunday. you're one hell of a gamer if you can finish this baby without a gamethrough. Getting the secret items were really hard even with a walkthrough (but it was worth it, i mean, an item making all magic consumes only 1 MP)
It was enjoyable indeed, like every other FF game. What's best about it were the characters and the job system, kinda like FFIX, one special ability for each certain character, 12 characters that you'll literally make use of nearly every one.
for a gameboy game, it's some pretty hot stuff! _________________

I use a program called PSPVideo9 that converts videos into a format and screen size that fits the PSP screen. It's free. Smile The subtitles are not a problem, generally, especially if you convert a video from groups like SARS that tends to use hella large fonts.
I see. I'll have to give drama-watching a try if I get a PSP.

Wahoo! You're sure to join the ranks of the Oblivion-addicted when you start playing!

Did the same thing. I bought it 2 weeks ago. (The game of the year edition) It's really hard to find. I wanted to play it right away, but I'll have GTAIV tomorrow. yippee
I didn't have the 100+ hours to finish it in 2 weeks and I know I will put it on hold, when I get GTA. All the guides for Oblivion were sold out tho. Sad
Again - wahoo! It'd be great to hear what The Shivering Isles part of the game is like when you start playing, tabana. My PS3 version is missing that.
I have the guide, and I love it. It's really really useful, and has helped me to experience stuff I never would have otherwise. Mostly though, I enjoy reading about the quests when I've completed them, to see if there's anything I've missed or could have done differently.
Also, there's tons of useful info regarding the Oblvion world in general, and lots of nice screenshots.

There's better programs than PSPVideo9 around now. A computer mag I buy has released their own, it converts almost anything to almost anything, including PSP and IPod video formats. If you're interested, I could upload it somewhere for you.

Thanks, Anime Dad, that'd be great if you could upload it. I haven't looked into anything new for PSP converting in over 2 years, I think.
In a show of solidarity with you, now that I have finished DDS2, I started Final Fantasy X-2.

Alright, so it's a remake of a 15 year old game, but I am certainly looking forward to this one...
I'm more interested in this than the upcoming Street Fighter IV. I'm sure IV will be good, but I suppose nostalgia reigns. Super Turbo was the best of the SF II iterations, so I certainly look forward to see how this remake plays, and go against some online competition as well

Is this currently exclusive to XBLA? The only thing that intrigues me about it is all the hype about the art, since they got the guys who did the comics to render the characters. There's a lot of parallels as to how they did the new KOF this year. Never really went too overboard in playing this, but I do remember being really abusive at cornering.

There's supposed to be a beta version included with Commandos 3 that's exclusive to the XBLA. The official release will be for both XBLA and PSN. The hype about the art got me interested as well. While it looks great, I've noticed from preview videos that the number of animations remain the same, so it creates this sort of weird look to me where it looks great, but not smooth. It's probably a good idea not to tinker with the animation frames so the fighting can stay true to the original.

OK, my son is very keen on getting an Xbox 360. I'm pushing him to get a PS3.... being a Blu-ray player and all but he wants the Xbox.
Anybody have both? Which is better?
How exciting!
As you know, I have a PS3, but not X-Box, so I can only sing the praises of the PS3.
One thing I'd mention about PS3 is it seems it's possible to replace the hardrive. The machine's largest drive is 80 gb, but I don't believe those are sold anymore, only the 40 gb ones (I have a 40gb one). But, you can put in a much bigger drive. I'm planning to stick a 120 gb drive in when I can afford it.
Oh yeah, and if you did manage to get a 60 gb or above machine, you should be able to play PS2 discs on there too (although not every PS2 game will play - most will).
Also, you can connect a PSP to a PS3.
And, I can say that the PSNetwork is good. You get lots of free demos/wallpapers/themes and trailers you can download for free. (At least, in Europe it's good...)

Although I don't believe you can play Xbox games on the Xbox 360, you can hook up external harddrives. I hooked up my TB HD to it and was able to access everything on it (pics, movies, dramas, etc) and watch from my Xbox. You can also save games on your External as well. I think the highest HD you can get for the Xbox is a 120 GB, so hooking up externals may not be necessary, unless you wanna use your console for more than just playing games.

Same with XBox. They have a "market place" that is superb.
To be fair, I don't think it's about the console anymore, since they're both so similar. It's about the actual games available for each and how much online playing you're gonna wanna do. You want a console most people have so you can connect to them. And you want the games most people play, so you can play with them. _________________

It really does depend on the type of games you want to play on them. Right now there are really very few 'exclusives' for each console, so it's pretty easy to go one way or the other since most games end up being delivered for both systems in the end.
The only thing separating the PS3 from the XBox right now is Bluray capability, but that's bound to change in the near future.
You may want to check what sort of genres you prefer and see which console currently has more games of that type available in their current roster.
