watching mirai koshi meguru ...
the humour in this dorama is not exactly hitting what intends to, I guess... Somehow I can't laugh and all the characters are a bit underdeveloped and getting on my nerves... however the idea of this story is quite funny and so I'll watch some more episodes (also because I've nothing else to watch T__T)

That, my friends, is the lead subber of Mop Girl basically throwing in the towel. DAMNIT!
I liked Mop GIrl so much I decided to watch the last 4 episodes without subs. I know my Japanese is not that good and I missed a lot, but I still liked it.

Man, I really wish my Japanese were better. I've almost wanted to sub shows sometimes but I don't think anyone really wants subtitles where whole lines of dialogue are blank.
How do you like Haken no Hinkaku? I love, lurved luuuuurved that show. I honestly didn't think the description made it sound that great but once I started I was hooked. So hilarious. _________________

Hey BMW, who's the girl with her mouth full in your avatar? She's adorable.
I watched Chuushingura 1/47; I wish I had another pair of hands to give it four thumbs down. I figured Koichi Sato in a samurai movie...this will probably rock. That was my mistake. This movie was centered and completely about Hirobe Yasubei played by Takuya Kimura. During the whole miniseries/movie he had two faces-scowl and blank-which pretty much summed up his acting. Seems like lousy acting is a common trait in SMAP members. He's better than Shingo in Shinsengumi, but that's like comparing cat feces to dog feces. They're both shit.
The writer made the same mistake as many others in making the lead character his/her "precious". Pretty much everything in this drama was the idea or action of Yasubei. He saved the day when there was a problem; he was the only one who wanted to seek revenge and convinced the others to act; he fought from the rear of the mansion to the front, into the mansion, found and killed Kira; and so on. Makes you wonder why they even bothered with a cast.

Try the ǂ܁É[ site. They have the transcripts of a lot of dramas in Japanese. It helps a lot if you see the words in front of you in addition to listening to it.

Wow, I haven't had the chance to watch this yet. Hopefully one day when I'm done with all the stuff I'm watching now.

His avatar is always Ueno Juri.
On topic: Finally got to watch episodes 4-5 of Last Friends and I'm going to watch the 6th one tonight. Also watched Asakusa Fukumaru Ryokan 2, episode 8 tonight. It had me tearing up at the end of this one. Can't wait for next week's episode. _________________

Flowers for Algernon episode 10, 1 more to go
You know how, sometimes after watching a few minutes of a drama, it almost felt like I have watched a whole episode. That's how I felt when watching this drama. There were moments/passages where time almost seemed to stand still. This has only happened once before for me when watching jdoramas, as far as I can remember. Basically, from episode 6 on, this series floored me.
10 episodes in 2 days!!! That may be a new Wynter-record!!!
LOL! Nuuuuuu in 3 days.
I think my record was completing a drama in like 15 hours. It was that night I had insomnia and watched the whole thing instead of sleeping.

OMG It's SO funny! I'm really pleasantly surprised with Ryoko-chan, because she usually plays such charismatic roles. It's fun to see her as Omae Haruko. I laughed forever when she hummed that song to the baby.
I know a lot of people thought the drama was too childish and unbelievable, and it IS, but that's why I'm enjoying it so much. It's really light and delightful! _________________

Hahha.. who is it ever
He's had Ueno Juri avatars for at least 4 months now.. and signatures for at least the last month or so. She is adorable. We maintain a very active thread on her with oodles of pictures.
She definitely is adorable.

The story isn't new at all, really... But it's done so well, it never bugs you.
No, it's not that it's so new (in fact it's quite analogous to Pygmalion so far). but it seems to be a little more willing to actually make some assertions about society, which for a Jdrama, isn't all that common. I mean they often make a few surface level social commentaries.. but nothing very deep or provocative. _________________

Fortunately since I've regressed to my childhood, I thought this one of the best Ryoko chan dramas ever. Like other truly enjoyable dramas I've rewatched portions of this several times. Ryoko chan really shines an absolute pleasure to to watch. I can see why you would race through this. Hard to pause in anticipation of what she will do next.

It seems like there have been as many filmed and TV versions of the Loyal 47 Ronin story as there are grains in a sand hourglass.
If you want to see a TV version with two truly outstanding performances, I would recommend the 1999 Taiga dorama Genroku Ryoran. Kabuki icon Nakamura Kanzaburo XVIII (he was known as Nakamura Kankuro back then) is great as Kuranosuke Oishi. He shows various facets of the chief counselor of the Ako clan, including a playful and oftentimes humorous side which is almost never depicted in other versions. His Oishi is quite human, not the noble Kuranosuke that is usually presented, but a rather simple man who is thrust into a difficult situation. A superb performance.
The other memorable performance is by Hagiwara Kenichi in the role of Shogun Tsunayoshi (the "Dog Shogun")--like Nakamura, he shows multiple facets of this historical figure, depicting him as being both really crazy and really smart, a doting mama's boy one minute but a dangerous megalomaniac the next.
