cuti, I have a great time reading your post about the things you did and saw in Japan... It seemed to be a really interesting place to be.
I am amazed that you actually really went to hunt down all the dvds... if i were you I would most probably be busy shopping for clothes, cosmetics and stuffing myself with all the yummy food.
Oh! talking about food, how's it? I remembered you mentioned you are going to eat all the nice food you could find...
It was great that you managed to go to the beach, it must have been a relaxing experience..
And did you managed to meet up with bubbles? haha.. i remembered reading once that you ladies planned to meet.
oh my... you really made me feel like going to japan now.. it seemed so fun and interesting.. haha..
oh.. and if you have the time, do post some nice pictures of your trip to share with us! w00t!

Actually we went shopping almost every day. After sight-seeing, relaxing on the beach and even after diner we went shopping till the shops are closed. During shopping for clothes, shoes, jewelry etc I also kept my eyes open for dvds/cds shops...What I havenft done yet is the real hunt on Kassy himself!!! heherofl

About the food, yeah...the food was great! Ifve tried to eat all the nice food that I usually see in Jdrama/Jmovie. Some of them are not really my taste, but some are really nice. My experience about ordering a meal at dinertime is that most of the time you get a portion which is just enough to fill your stomach. Thatfs good for your weight! Bleah

What I donft see much in Japan are dishes with pork or beef. Most of the dishes I saw and have eaten are mostly related to seaweeds or seafood. What Ifve noticed is that seafoods in Japan are alot cheaper then in my country. On the other hand there are some food that are more expensive then in my own country. For example fruit, vegetables, ham and milk are really expensive in Japan. Funny right?

Ifve tried so many things but donft remember or know all the names of the food. We just point on the example dishes (outside the restaurant/ eathouse) that we would like to eat. The example dishes are made of plastic. You can actually see what dishes it is. Also pictures of dishes help alot!

So funny, my plan was to take pictures of everything that I eat in Japan before I start to eat, but everytime I forgot it. I always remember to take pictures after wefve finished the dishes.

There are two kind of food that I have to re-think about it before I want to try it again. Curry dishes and cold noodles with soya sauce or with some unique sauce. During and after eating it I donft feel very well. Maybe Ifm not used to it, but in japan I see these food every where, especially curry! About the cold noodles, I didnft expect it was cold! Some japanese people next to me ordered the same and they eat the way it makes you want/have to try it!

In general Ifm really satisfied about the food. I just love it, but sometimes I miss milk, ham (different kind of ham), beef, fruit and vegetables.

About our Bubbles. It would be great if I could meet her in Japan, but I didnft. Before I left Ifve send her a PM, but I didnft received one back. I think she must be busy or something.

Oh my...this is another long post! Hihihi...Give me some time to upl the pics that I have and share it with you gals. I have to say beforehand that Ifm not a profesional photographer. Also I was little bit lazy to take pictures. What I have I will share...

Wow! cuti, from what you described, you are making me hungry.
hmm... a pity that you don't like curry and cold noodles.. they are one of my favourite.
yep.. i heard that fruits are especially expensive. the imported fruits that were sold in the japanese supermarket in my country are all very expensive, but they look good and juicy.
oh.. did you only went to tokyo or you also went to other places?
by the way, haha.. how's the people in japan? as kakkoii and kawaii as those we saw in dramas?

cuti, I really enjoy reading your post. It makes me want to fly to Japan right now hehe

Hmm....If I go to Japan, it will be difficult to find food that is "safe" for me since I can't eat pork Sweat
Yeah, I too heard that fruits in Japan are expensive but strangly some of them are really chep here in my country Nut

btw, what dvds did you buy? are they Kassy's?

yeah! qnuy! fruits are cheap and readily available in SEA... my japanese friend had a great time trying out the many different kind of fruits when she visited me.

lol....haha our conversation has digress to discussing about fruits... haha

Hello everyone!

Gomen nasai, long time no write..
Been out of town & busy with work, etc..

Hello cuti, nice to meet you ^^
Thank you so much for providing so much of Kassy's info in your website! It's a feast of Kassy Dancing

Collective replies, again.. w00t!

qnuy & chokakoi:
Thank you so much for the translation of kassy's bbs message! Applaud

chokakoi wrote:
you retold the story to your mom??? so what's your mom's reactions?

Err... I forgot.. she was only listening, I think. Or maybe she said "that's so nice..." or something like that Sweat

qnuy wrote:
Yes, I also take Japanese class. Kanji is indeed difficult but I find it challenging. I hate katakana more

Where do you take the japanese class? I'm thinking of taking it since I have spare time..

cuti wrote:
Tokyo is such an amazing city. Great place to be! Two weeks isn't enough!!! I really had a wonderful time in Tokyo! Two weeks non-stop shopping, sight seeing, hunting kassy down and eating sushi till you drop!!!

I agree, Tokyo is such an amazing city. You'll wanna go back again & again coz it's never enough no matter how long you're there. There are so many places to see & so many good food to eat!
Btw, where did you stay? Did you go with friends or family?

cuti wrote:

Eeh, really? I found lots of ramen (Tokyo style -- with pork) restaurants there and also lots of beef curry & beef bowl restaurants when I went there last winter. It wasn't really hard for me to find meat there..

By the way, I've uploaded my photos of Japan (not much) at my flickr. Just thought maybe you girls wanna see...

chokakoi wrote:

Aaah, same here!
I also love curry, cold noodles, and ramen. Yum, now I'm hungry! Drooling

chokakoi wrote:

Can I answer this?
The people in Tokyo are mostly very well-dressed (especially since I went on winter, I'm very amazed that they can beautifully dress up in their winter clothes!). Their fashion is very up-to-date, they follow the season's trend. But to be honest, their face/look is not as kawaii & kakkoi as those we saw in dramas. I'd say, only 3-5% of them look good (as in beautiful / handsome). Most people I met on the street & everywhere look.... uhm... *scratch head* sorry to say, but not good or so so Sweat
So those dramas really fool you!
I found it really hard to meet kakkoii guys there, honestly.
But there are more kawaii girls than kakkoii guys. I found it a tad bit easier to find kawaii girls.
Well, see my photos & you'll understand ^^

Oh, chokakoi, I've been wanting to ask..
The Kassy avatar you have on your profile.. which movie/drama is it from? He looks so hot in that one Smitten

hey elyse, ha.. my avatar is from the final scene in the drama Rennai Kekkon Housoku. Heh heh.. kawaii right?

oh. after reading your description about the kakkoii-ness and kawaii-ness of the general residents in japan... I guess it is not 3-5% ... should be roughly about 20%, just that these 20% are in showbiz....

you and cuti made me want to go visit japan now... it sounds like a unique interesting country...

oh.. talking about pork, i know japan is one of the few countries with McPork in their Mcdonalds...

elyse! I have a great time looking through the photos you took! thanks for sharing!
So you were in Tokyo not too long ago... just in Jan... haha... I even saw the giant poster for the drama Bara no nai Hanaya in front of the JR station.
I get hungry at the sight of the food pictures you took. Even plastic food looks yummy! haha... and so do all the bento boxes! looks soooo delicious!!!
And you seemed to really enjoyed yourself! those photos taken in the train were really cute... lol

oh.. somehow the people on the streets kinda reminded me of when I was in HK. I realised both the people in these 2 countries have similar fashion sense... or maybe the HK people are following the Japan fashion trend...

are you saying 20% from all the population of tokyo only, or the whole of japan? i would still say around 3 to 5%.. i mean, the population of tokyo is around 12,790,000 (from wikipedia) & the population of japan is more than 127 million people. if you say 20% of them are in showbiz, there's simply no way there are 2.5 million people in tokyo alone (or 25 million people in japan) in showbiz, and even more impossible that those 20% are kawaii & kakkoii, because as you see in dramas & movies, only a few of them are really good looking. so not everyone who's in showbiz are good looking. honestly, when i walk around tokyo & gotemba, there aren't a lot of kawaii & kakkoii people. but maybe the kawaiiness & kakkoiiness depend a lot on one's taste as well (i'm very picky, that's why) Sweat

Yep.. it is really hard to find. i was lucky to be able to rent it from my japanese language school. if not, i don't think i will ever get to watch this drama. it was a rather funny drama also.... and yes..... lol... very hot..

wow!!!! i am impressed by your detailed analysis!!
if that's the case... maybe the real kakkoii ones only make up of 0.000000015% (i think this is about 1 to 3).... i am more picky when it comes to this.. rofl
more for kawaii, bcos in general when I looked at pictures of those girls on the street, there are many kawaii ones... bcos they are really fair and have very nice complexion and nicely done hair.

yes, i agree! actually i wanted to say, maybe not even 3-5%, maybe even 0.1% of the whole population (or even less), but i thought i was too harsh hehe
yup, i also agree that kawaii is easier to find than kakkoii. if you see my photo in flickr titled "pretending to be japanese" (i was pretending to be sleeping in the train), the girl beside me is kawaii ^^ but it's really hard to find kakkoii guys, honestly. there are very very rare kakkoii guys!

the first drama that i watched is nodame cantabile... and i still think that that's a big mistake. why? because, to me, nodame is the BEST drama ever & nothing can par up to it, so right now i'm just in downloading spree but never really watch the dramas i downloaded Bonk
mostly i just skim-watching those dramas, skipping lots of the scenes, because i get bored easily. shukumei, swing girls, & g@me are probably the only movies that i watched faithfully (without skipping the scenes) from start to finish. and nodame is the only drama that i watched faithfully. oh wait, i also watched itoshi kimi e rather faithfully, since there are nao, tamaki, and misaki in it.

i wrote about it on my journal here (see the second post from above, titled "japanese overdose: the beginning").

btw i know that the wave of dorama has long passed... i just wasn't affected until i finally gave up when i heard there's a nodame drama. since i like the manga, and since everyone has persuaded me to watch it (saying that it's really good, etc), i finally gave in & downloaded nodame. that was the start of my dorama madness. if it wasn't for nodame, maybe i would never have entered the dorama world at all Dancing

(ok... I am going to digress seriously away from our thread... gomene hehe )

Ah elyse... so Nodame is the drama that changed you... you must be a big fan of Juri-chan and Tamaki. I really like Juri-chan, her performance in LF is fantastic.

Talking about Nao... you are a fan of him too, right? Intro you to 2 dramas of him that are worth watching -- Love Revolution, Antique. He looks really kakkoii in these 2 dramas.

(back to topic... hehe ... after reading elyse's journal )

Talking about Shukumei... elyse, you are not the only one 'falling for the wrong guy' after watching the movie. Beaten I have heard from among the Chinese J-drama fans, many initially watch the movie for Nao (by the way, he's the lead, and the movie {from what I heard} was made to partly to promote him, bcos that time he was really really famous) and ended up ... well.. 'fallen for the wrong guy'. rofl
(For me, I only realised Nao was in the movie, long after I watched it, when I browsed the cast list/information one day...)

** PS: the little pic of Nao you used in your Journal is really kakkoii. **

Speaking about Nao. Itfs so funny..Three of us have somehow the same taste! Big Grin. Nao is a good actor and also charismatic man, but I think kassy is more charismatic then Nao. Also kassyfs appearance is very eye-catching. Donft know if you gals think the same way...

Chokakoi...Like elyse said before in her post. Japanese people do take care of their looks and are well-dressed! I think theyfre really good looking! Especially the women. Nice hair, outfit, shoes, bags and jewelry, but they all look almost the same! I think the girls Ifve seen so far are more kawaii and kakkoii then those Ifve seen in drama. About the men, itfs so hard to say. What Ifve noticed and remember is that the working men are dressed really well. They look really kakkoii and hot in suit! If they are more musculer than it wil be perfect!!! Maybe Elyse should look for men in suit and the percentage thatLs mentioned can go up to 50% hehe!

Besides Tokyo we didnft went to any other places. Even in the two weeks we havenft seen everything of Tokyo yet. Maybe next time we can go to places outside Tokyo.

Thx for the tudou links. Itfs nice to see kassy in tv shows. The second link is the Scoop right? I thought The Scoop is a long movie in stead of short movie. In Tokyo I was looking for that movie, but everytime I got disappointed!

Qnuy.....in japan you have different kind of food, but what Ifve come across are food that are related to seafood or fish. I also have chicken twice. Ohh...I also had beef at diner, but somehow beef in japan doesnft taste the same as in my country. Itfs very dry and just different. I also had Kimchi dishes...So I donft think you will have food problem in Japan.

What Ifve bought were dvd movies of kassy....Birthday Present, Akagi part 1 & II and Kimi no tame ni dekiru koto. The last movies so so nice. Kassy looks really cute. Very boyish and very attractive! In this movie he had the leading role! The last part of the movie Kimi when kassy says gGomennh to that girl a few times that he almost cries....Oh my, the way he says and act is soo incredible cute....Darn, it makes me want to look at that scene again....

Elyse...Nice to meet you too. Ifm glad youfve enjoyed your stay at cuti-tk.
Like you said about Tokyo, there are so many places to be and so many food to eat that itfs hard to leave Tokyo. I will definetly go back there often!! About the pork meat in japan. I should have said this way. The diversity of dishes with pork or beef are less then in my own country. Besides this, in my country if you order pork meat you will get a big portion of meat and a smaller portion of rice/noodles/ramen. In japan is this that way around. Also, in japan most of the dishes are more related to seafood then pork or beef etc. Thatfs why Ifve put it like that in my previous post.

In may I went to tokyo with a good friend of mine, my sister and my brother-in-law and we stayed in a hotel in Ueno. What about you? I saw some very nice photos of you! BTW, wefve made the same photo of the futuristic building nearby the Shinjuku station!!!

Ohh...I almost forgot! This is a selection of the photoLs that ILve made.

Just like you read in my livejournal, I was into Tamaki when I first saw him in Nodame, coz he was so breath-takingly kakkoii there. But after I saw him in other dramas/movies, my interest in him decreased a lot (coz he doesn't look as good & the other dramas/movies are a bit boring). And now I'm no longer interested in him, although I still download his dramas (I like his smile/laugh & I like his facial expressions when acting).
Juri-chan, on the other hand, maintains her high acting standard in all of her dramas, that's why I like her till now. Yup, her in LF is awesome!

Yes, I like Nao as much as (if not more than) Kassy. It's much easier to find Nao's dramas, so I think I've already had all of his dramas/movies (incl. the ones you mentioned) & watched him in all of them (although mostly skim-watching Sweat). Actually I love Nao best in Kou Kou Kyoushi 2003 & g@me.

Rolly
Well, for me, kawaiiness & kakkoiiness depend very much on faces (i.e. good looks). Hair, outfit, body, etc don't count to them being kawaii & kakkoii if they're not good looking Bleah
So it doesn't matter how perfectly they dress or how great their body is, since I judge solely on good looks / faces. And I honestly would say that there aren't many Japanese with good looks, although yes they dress very very well. I'm not able to like a guy with great body in suit if his face is not good Sweat Blame it on my very picky taste on what I would call "good" looks (beauty & handsomeness). But that's just me.
People like Kassy is really hard to find there! hehe (that's why I honestly don't understand why he couldn't get more leading roles in more movies! Those directors can't realize his beauty! Beat You)

In may I went to tokyo with a good friend of mine, my sister and my brother-in-law and we stayed in a hotel in Ueno. What about you? I saw some very nice photos of you! BTW, wefve made the same photo of the futuristic building nearby the Shinjuku station!!!

Ah yes I agree about the diversity of meat being less in Japan than in Europe. The Japanese love seafood so much & their seafood is so good & fresh, that it's become their specialty (and costs so much to import)! But Kobe beef is not as expensive in Japan as it is in other countries, that's why I wanna try it someday... Drooling

I stayed at Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku hotel at Shinjuku (only 5 minutes away from Shinjuku station). Very nice hotel! It was hard for me to leave that hotel Bleah I went with mom last January.
Is it your first time to Tokyo, or have you been there before?
I saw your photos, thanks for sharing them. I made some comments as well Smile

Very boyish and very attractive! In this movie he had the leading role! The last part of the movie Kimi when kassy says gGomennh to that girl a few times that he almost cries....Oh my, the way he says and act is soo incredible cute....Darn, it makes me want to look at that scene again....

Cuti, Nice pictures! I enjoyed looking through them, and the food really make me hungry. Thanks for sharing the pictures. By the way, what's the Kimi no tame ni dekiru koto movie about? And oh, you have watched the first link I gave you, right? Haha.. I think the last part was so funny... when he finally lifted his head and looked at the host, then the host finally get to catch a look of him, then said "kakkoii ne?" haha... then the whole audience said "kakkoii..." I nearly fell off my chair... the host is very funny..

Yeah, men in suits sure look yummy, but not all. It got to match with a equally yummy face and proportionate body. Ok.. I have such a liking to men in suits, I have did some analysis... A slanding shoulder is a big no no, shoulder must be in proportion to the head and the rest of the body. Height not too important as long as not too short, the upper body must be in the proportion of 3:4 to the lower body. Must not be too muscular and big size, as though bursting through the suit. Lastly, a nicely tailored suit that fit the body perfectly. hahaha....

elyse, cuti, i realised quite a number who like Nao, also like Kassy. I think bcos both guys have similar kinda style... the yasashii, gentle type.. quite different from the out-spoken types commonly found among those very popular actors......

And oh, talking about food... I guess if I were to go Japan for holiday, I am sure gonna put on weight... Even in Singapore, I am eating Japanese food/snacks more than once a week.. haha.. sashimi, sushi, ramen, soba, takoyaki, beef.... yum yum.... oh! there's one kinda snack i like, don't know if you ladies tried before while you were there... it is a pancake shaped in a fish with lots of red beans stuff in it... I once tried the authentic ones during a Japanese food fair in one of my local supermarket... i totally fell in love with it... it was sooooo yummy....

elyse, alot of the chinese fans who went travel to japan, returned and realised that it is a miracle (i think a bit exaggerated here.. haha.. but it is not my words, just what some chinese fans said) that Kassy is able to look like that... but you probably realised that his kinda looks not particularly suit the taste of the japanese audience... erm.. it is kinda different from those 'very very popular ones' (if you know who i am refering to)... so it is totally understandable why directors don't know how to appreciate..

cuti, elyse Thanks for the photos, they're really nice ^^

elyse I'm taking a Japanese course at The Japan Foundation Jakarta. Just finished my intermediate level and now we're on the break (summer holiday I guess). I don't know if I pass to the next level. The result is out next week. Wish me luck Smile

chokakoi :hugs: thanks a lot for the link. When Kassy showed up I was squealing and went so hyper that my eyes got teary hehe
That is taken from Waratte ii tomo show. It's an interesting show, sometimes there are games played by the guests. The host is Tamori-san (the one that is in the video). Do you happen to know the date of that show? I collect waratte ii tomo show because besides Tamori-san, there are also three members of SMAP that host the show together with Tamori-san (on different days) that's why I collect it Mr Green

Speaking of Nao, I also love him, but not as crazy as my love for Kassy hehe I initially watched Itoshi Kimi e because of Nao (he's soooo adorable there) but then it was the first time I'd had a crush on Tamaki hehe

I've loved Jdramas since Tokyo Love Story was first aired in my country (I guess it was back in 1993/1994 I forgot) which leads me to the everlasting craziness over Jdramas and Japan itself Smile
