I've read in the past that the average height of Asians is going up... Maybe because of the Western diet is more widespread throughout the world? Of course, the downside is probably more health problems like heart disease, cancer, etc...

There's also genetics to consider. Most people in my family are relatively tall for Asians.

You know, I've always wondered about that. I'm lactose intolarant so I didn't get much milk as a kid (soy bean milk!) other than with cereal. And somehow I still grew up to be 5'9". Genetics probably played a big role.

nah, it aint about anything western that makes some asians taller than others. It's purely genetics. It's not proven but if u see where people's parents or father back come from, it sorta determines the height. I find alot of ppl who's ancestors who originated from Northern China are fairly taller as in the 6' and above range. Southerners are shorter and end up at the 5' range. I'm not sure about other countries though since I'm Chinese. I'm 5'10" and I consider myself short and I'm American. Dang.

The article is true. Tekanan, you have a right to your opinions and so does the author. I support him saying that there are alot of ppl out there who indulge themselves with anime and assume they are part of the culture. Asians rant on them, their own "kind" rants on them. and I don't see how fat has anything to do with this.

For me, i see it this way. As an ABC, I have to get my "asianess" going thru jdorama, d-addicts, asian stores. You know what I can find in American stores? DRAGON BALL Z. We Asians are really under-appreciated and not acknowledged in America. Why do Asian girls find white guys more attractive? Because the media portrays them more. Its the same in Hong Kong i guess since it WAS ruled by the British and most college students goto Europe after high school.

Long Post! WHY? Cause I dislike sellouts. Its ridiculous when you(me) work at the airport only on weekends and the majority of asian couples are between a white guy and an asian gal. It's sad. The death of the Asian male race man...the death! We must being to propagate my brothers. we must create a SUPER asian race.

One time I ran out of milk and I used soy bean milk with my raisin bran. Didn't taste as bad as I thought when they were mixed together but soy bean milk by itself w/o the cereal is way better

Genetics does play a big role, but diet must make a difference in some way as well, else why would Japan's average height be rising over the past couple of decades?

im 6 ft. probably in the top 1-2nd percentile in terms of ht in singapore. but generally asians are getting taller n bulkier. but we dun generally have v broad shoulders n we dun eat that much red meat here so overall we arent that big sized. any gd sized ang moh will tower over us. even for me.

Yep. My office mate (a hakujin) is the same height as I am, but his frame is bigger, thet's why he weighs about 200-220 lbs. as opposed to my 175-180 lb. weight...
