I'm excited that there's a movie. If the drama was good then I hope the film will be too. I hope they explore more of Ueno Juri's character and Masami's, because that seems to be the most they can. What Twin Brother? HAHAHA! That's too much. The triangle relationship between Eita Masami and Juri is really good stuff for a movie.
I'm hoping she backed out of participating.... Especially if there's that idiotic plotline of Sosuke's twin brother...
Hm. There's some part of me that's intrigued at the possibility of introducing Sousuke's twin brother, but only with a few considerations...
- he might be like the reverse evil twin: weak, frail, overly expressive of his emotions, and he'll really hate kids
- once they put their magic rings (cups? knives?) together, they'll be sorta like the Wonder Twins where they can form into things that are even more lifeless.
- maybe all the Sousukes were really clones/robots, which could explain the relatively new experience of dealing with human emotion
I might just be intrigued to see this if only to wait for some unintentional comedy.
As for Juri's participation in it... God, I hope not. We were all raving about Rainbow Song until that whole chapter travesty came in; I wouldn't want to see something like that again waste what could be another excellent performance from her.

without mention wether last friends is good or bad, I have to say that Ryos actingskills have improved ALOT ... or maybe he's good in these kind of roles? anyway I changed my mind about his skills, he's really awesome
And Juri was... GREAT.. as ever, she's once again proved her talent! _________________

I will pose this question to you, but anyone else is free to respond: What qualities of Ryo's acting in the drama did you find to be good or have improved on? Is there any specific moment during the drama where you thought Ryo's acting was really strong?
I don't ask those questions to be mocking, but rather I just want to see what the answers are. I see differently, and my opinion won't change, but I'm curious to see the opposite end of the spectrum.

Yeah, I'm curious, too.
Disgusted, but curious. *train wreck syndrome again*

Well, firtsly I thought this role suited him alot better than attention please or gambatte ikimasshoi, since this was a more serious role, and well it just suits him better
secondly, haha even though it sounds alittle mean, I think his expressions are very much alike with the psycho he's trying to play, he actually gives me the creeps while watching even though im not disgusted of him and don't hate him normally, since I like NewS and ryo also
and third, the first hitting scene he handled quite good, but I have to admit that the cameracrew made it look better, and it may have also been that since I was so shocked he got the badguy-role i thought it was "wooow", but if it would be a scene, that would be the one
oh and I'm still att episode 7, so I havnt finished it yet
But i guess the first two are the strongest for my opinion about his improvement
(Oh and just to let you know, I take back my "he's awesome", simply cause i changed my mind, i still think he's good, but not awesome, I wrote that when I had just watched ep.2 x'D) _________________

I have to be honest...at Episode 2, I had felt the same way in thinking that the entire case (yes, even Ryo) were doing a fantastic job, and I had even thought this show would've been one of those "recommend to all" shows. However as the series progressed and with little depth changes from him or the writing, it just showed it's true colors (as opposed to, say, Juri's evolving of the Ruka character or Eita executing Takeru's complex yet lacking story in near-perfect form).
Then again, I've never seen Ryo in any other series, so I don't really have much to compare it to...my hope as with any actor is that the next time he's on-screen it's better than this, period. It wasn't even the best 'scary role' from a Japanese actor IMHO, just mediocre at best to me.

Yup.
This drama definitely qualified for the "J-Dramas You Thought Would Be Good, But..." thread.

I agree. Ryo may be the next great actor in the world..... ..... , but this role was definitely not a showcase of that. Sosuke was a throwaway role that required no acting skills to pull off; the only thing a person(notice I didn't say actor) had to do was not screw it up. It only became a "significant" role because his rabid fans gave it a ratings boost.

I haven't seen him in other dramas yet, so I can't do a comparison, but I do plan to watch 1 Litre of Tears. Also he'll be in an upcoming drama where he plays a guy with multiple personalities. Sounds like a breakout role if he can pull it off.
For a creepy psycho, Ryo did well, and the first beating scene was a bit shocking. The Sousuke character had a lot of potential, especially in the beginning where you just didn't know what he do. I just think the writers dropped the ball on it.

He's going to portray various wood products: a table, a chair, a bookshelf, a wall unit, etc...

This is where different opinions diverge. I didn't see anything creepy, or even psycho about Sosuke. They started him off as the perfect boyfriend, then turned 180 into the nonstop wife beater. You don't expect it because they hardly developed the character up to then. I found the character to be as flat and wooden as you could get without stepping into the realm of bad acting. They never should have made the character more than being a catalyst for another plot developing. The epic fail happened when they made him a central plot focus.

Sounds like a room in the House of Acting Horrors. When I first read the description of Ryo's role in the upcoming drama, I thought the catch was the brooding personality would be the dominant personality.

The turnaround when he first beat Michiru was surprising, and as you said you don't expect it. For a while, I thought there was a sense of dread when he was around. I thought they had something going with Sousuke. Sadly, the character wasn't expanded upon and became flat and stale. I agree that making him a central plot focus was the epic fail, but when Ryo=Ratings, they were going to milk it for all it was worth. Apparently, they are still not done milking since a movie is coming
