I feel like I should apologize the writers. I underestimated their "invention". I was hoping that it couldn't be worse. What an idiotic plotline. Crazy I'm not happy with that even being a fan of Ryo. Even if he is in it I want something more than only fangirling over him. I wish they focused on Ruka and Takeru.

And the award for the best supporting actor should definitely go to Eita. At least in my opinion.

It always cracks me up -

I have to be honest...at Episode 2, I had felt the same way in thinking that the entire case (yes, even Ryo) were doing a fantastic job, and I had even thought this show would've been one of those "recommend to all" shows. However as the series progressed and with little depth changes from him or the writing, it just showed it's true colors (as opposed to, say, Juri's evolving of the Ruka character or Eita executing Takeru's complex yet lacking story in near-perfect form).

I can't disagree more with what was said. Last Friends was one of the dramas that I was really looking forward to. It had an interesting storyline, interesting characters and that opening credits thingy with all the symbolism shit got my expectations high but alas, a potentially good drama is basically what it is.

On Ryo's acting, I guess we can't entirely put the blame on the poor guy. I didn't think he did all that bad and he is after all, at the baby stage of his acting career (as compared to his co-stars). To be honest, I thought there were possibly some intense scenes with Sousuke in the first few episodes which I thought Ryo did pretty well. But from ep4 onwards, I think Ryo felt tired of beating people and getting into the same ole routine - looming in the bg suspiciously, grabs hair, kicks, punch, threatens- basically just following what the script required him to do. It was tiring and definitely not inspiring for an actor and it just felt like he gave up at trying to be intense, as if he wanted to get it over and done with. It was disappointing, the writers screwed him. Same goes for Masami I guess. Ihavn't watched anything with her in it other than LF and with the amount of acting she has done she didn't display the slightest bit of acting experience in her acting. It was as if it's her first acting gig and she wasn't very good either. bleh

And what's up with the Eri and Ogurin characters?! Most underdeveloped sub-plot ever. And then the Most disappointing resolve for side-characters ever. Grumble

Despite all that, I dont't thikn I regretted watching this series though. I thought, Last Friends, good or not, was one of the dramas that attracted some critical attention and brought out some interesting dicussions on almost all aspects of the drama - content, storyline, acting, etc. I thought discussing (or for some pple, dissing Sweat ) was more fun than watching the drama. but then again, i'm new to watching jdramas so uh...yeah. Hello Guys, Newbie desu. I'm a LF addict and I just wanna ask, is it true that Ryo felt neglected because of his role in LF? I forgot what site it is and what article it is, but it's said there that Ryo felt neglected that's why he didn't went when Juri, Masami and Eita were having fun together.

That might be part of the rumor that Juri-chan was pissed off because the writer sold out the entire drama for ratings...

I've heard of that rumor too. The one with ryo and Juri being pissed. If it really was true, I guess everyone would be pissed at the director for something like this. Now seriously. (But I can picture juri-chan being pissed at the director. xD suits her, especially with that "boy-do")

But personally, I don't think it's true, cuz there was a news (read it in a blog, they translated the news to english) about how they went to this fare-wellparty singing karaoke, even with utada hikaru was there, who sang along with juri-chan's piano. They even said that Ryo was being more talk-active than on set. So he went there with mina-san yo. Mr Green

Yeah, they are. They hold so much power over the press in Japan that even though a scandal broke out for one of their talents recently, they managed to make the company attempting to report it lose more than Johnny's did.

Plus, Nishikido is vectored in the main image for a reason: Johnny's!

I finally finished it. Gave up waiting for the hardsubs. I don't really care if all the subs aren't the same anymore. It wasn't a horrible series but it was very disappointing because it could have been much better. Nagasawa Masami was the weakest link in terms of the acting. I actually thought Nishikido Ryo was decent in his role but he wasn't given much to work with anyway. It was a shame that the story focused mostly on them. Too much on the DV and then glorifying Sousuke's character at the end- WTF? The ending was also very cheesy. But I'll still give it an 8 because it was entertaining to watch. Bonk
