I concur with the other posters' opinions that the kiss was intentional. I believe it was part of her character in the movie. If you realize it, the "End of the World" movie they were shooting was actually the "second"; they had to reshoot it because the first actress backed out during the kissing scene itself. Perhaps Aoi (Juri) already had feelings for Tomoya. Their movie was made when they were already close friends. It was revealed during the drunken-confession-scene-after-the-speed-date that Tomoya "stole" Aoi's first kiss. So one can only infer that Aoi was not at ease during the kissing scene.
About the movie itself, I also loved it. It was calm, subtle and more visual - a typical East Asian film. I won't mind the camera focusing on one scene (Juri's face, anyone?) because I know that one shot can mean a lot of spoken words. For example, the scene when they first held hands while looking at the rainbow. It signified the start of their fast friendship. One thing I didn't like about the movie was Tomoya's utter helplessness. XD He was a complete loser, really. Also, it was a character-driven movie, so their characters should have been fleshed out more.
But I loved the last scene the most. The one where that Tomoya finally cried after Aoi's blind sister told him Aoi loved him. Stupid loser. If I was him, I would pin Juri (not Aoi lol) and never let her go XD
I haven't watched her other movies yet (still downloading XD), but I want to put Rainbow Song on the top og my list. I dunno, maybe I really like the type of movies like that one. I hope to see more movies like that from her
a random crazy thought: I wonder who'll be the lucky bastard to steal Juri's heart in real life LOL. I hope she likes gaijin people so I'll have a glimmer of chance. Dream on! XDDD _________________

You'd have to be dead for a couple of months to not be choked up after that scene.
Grah! I don't easily cry...but that last scene was just too much. I put myself in the guy's shoes and my eyes just well up. Haha. I emphatize too much _________________
Well yeah, Juri's one factor. XD But the story itself, despite its relative shortness, is another. Regarding the reversal of roles... well, who knows? Juri's a superb actress. Maybe one look at her downtrodden eyes and I'll be hospitalized for crying too much LOL _________________
currently watching kagayaku onna. I didn't know japan has this kinda show for celebraties but I think this is awesome. ^0^
Juri-chan is so funny and she's always comparing things with food. But she has a really deep way of thinking.
Kagayaku Onna - Ueno Juri is a really good show... Quite a fascinating insight into what make Juri-chan tick.
I think so too.. it was a critical junction between the characters - and made even more interesting because it happened long before we got to see it - when they were watching the movie at the end.
The more I think about it, the more I think I may enjoy Rainbow Song more than any other work I've seen Juri in. Maybe not so much for her, but for the movie - it seems to be better written than much of the Japanese mat erial - more like an independent movie than a campy 80s sitcom.
well i agree with you, juri performance in raibow song is great
and one factor why the movie great in any aspects is shunji iwai
my fave director, although he only producer and writer in that movie.
rainbow song just like any other film that iwai make
such as Riri No subute,Hana To arisu n the famous love letter.
when i look the cinematograpy in that movie ,thats reminds me
the directing style of iwai, the colors and many more.
and juri acting is another greatness for the movie.
this is flawless scene in the movie

I just finished the show and I must say that I'm impressed. Really. I think she has a Ruka and Nodame part in her which just makes her Ueno Juri. It's fascinating how her trip turned out to be. Well, but I didn't expect to hear so many metaphors from her, like when she was trying to explain how her point of view was. xD
*SPOILER*
I really cracked up when the author of great blue yonder gave her a little kiss. and he was like: "don't you usually do that in japan?" "hazukashi!!"

I'm making a compilation of all the information I found on the net and am doing this for all the new members who don't have time to run through all the pages here at this thread.
thtl-san, I need your agreement since almost all video download here and at Swing Girls thread are uploaded by you.
Cool project by the way. That gallery will be great Now if someone can make a VIDEO gallery, that will be the bomb. LOL. My PC will catch fire one of these days because of long hours of DL. But Juri's worth all the efforts <3 _________________

My pleasure.
Thanks! I will be needing all your support if you don't mind. VIDEO gallery? I plan on doing that too. I forgot to mention it. I need to finish first all Juri's movie and tv dramas download and info before that though.
I warn you. You're computer will go BOOM in the near future. Mine did. But like you said, Juri's worth all the effort! _________________

For any Juri-chan fan, Kagayaku Onna is a must-see.
