I finished MPD Psycho, and apart from some lazy plot exposition in the final episode it was fantastic, Miike at his weird best. It certainly is not for everyone, very dark and strange, although not as extreme as something like Visitor Q (but then again, what is). I couldn't find it in the database, so I try and post the details to the relevant thread.
In my trawl through the darker side of Japanese drama I think I'll try Xenos next to see if there is anything beyond the boobies.
Still enjoying Kekkon Dekinai Otoko, I really don't want this one to end.

Finished watching Hitogata Nagashi. Really touching drama (I cried several times) AND it had my Shiro in it. The story was about 3 best friends (Sawaguchi Yasuko, Matsuda Miyuki, Takagi Miho) and how they coped with one of them getting breast cancer. I also have to mention that there was some guy in it who looked like the love child of Tamaki Hiroshi, Yamamoto Yusuke (dude from HanaKimi & PUZZLE), and Nishikado Ryo (ick), but actually cute. _________________

I also picked up "Seigi no Mikata" and I actually enjoy that one- though I don't really understand why the dynamic is so warped between the two sisters other than the fact that the little sister is just a super-pushover.
I will be watching this one next - once I finish Tantei Gakuen Q, which seems a logical step as both dramas have Mirai Shida (and Hongo Kanata). "The kids are alright"
But first episode 8 of TGQ.
Gonzo episode 4
Enjoying Uchino Masaaki acting but I'm getting annoyed seeing they are stuck in this one case. I'm surprised that I'm getting bored by it. Will plough through and clicking the fast forward button if necessary. Please tell me it gets better...

@ tofuuuuu
Yes it does get better. But if you're bothered that this is a single case, perhaps this isn't the drama for you. The entire drama is dedicated to solving this one case, though there are many twists and turns in the plot. And if you feel you must fast forward your way through it, there probably is little reason to continue. Many details of the story will be lost.
That said, this is the best drama of the summer IMO.

the case seems not as interesting to me. wonderful effort to solve a murder case using a big division of police unit but the death was not that tragic
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:
(unless the police woman died too), its not a serial killing spree, the person who was killed eventhough was "angel-like" with wonderful talent was found to be quite normal, everything that ties to the case (like the gun in episode.. still watching) seems coincidental...
i love to know about Gonzo and the police force but the case was just not interesting enough for me. *sigh* Maybe i'm too spoilt with Maou dramatic plot and twists thus not in the right state to be able to enjoy this properly. The dialogues are witty, the acting is natural.. I just hope Gonzo's past will lend more drama to this otherwise light mystery. Btw, the theme song is lovely.
Best drama this summer eh~ so you've watched most of the dramas aired this season kazuya?

^ I'm not trying to convince you to stick with this drama if you aren't enjoying it, though I do think you haven't given it enough of a chance yet. But that's entirely up to you...
If you don't feel that the death at the center of the plot is interesting or tragic enough, I don't know what would make it more interesting for you. The whole emphasis of this drama is to solve a single case and how that case affects a variety of characters. Also I wouldn't qualify a murder investigation as a "light mystery" . I would say the cases in a drama like Kuitan ( which I liked a lot ) as falling into that category.
And no, admittedly I haven't seen most of the shows this season. I've seen parts of half or so, but there are shows that aired that I would never watch unless someone paid me, and even then I might think about giving the money back. That's the way it is with every season.... it would take a lot to make me watch certain types of shows.

i'm not trying to be convinced either but I do want to know if its just about this one case.
I'm still watching btw (half through episode 5). Not giving it enough chance? I just spent my time watching it witnhout fast forwarding even if I did feel like I want to after episode 4. I should however not have any expectation based on how highly praised it was here .
Despite being a murder investigation its still a light mystery of sorts (same as Kuitan which I love also). For me dramas that are considered "heavier mystery" are like Sora Kara Furu, Sleeping Forest, Trick series, Unfair (haven't finish yet! ) and even one or two cases in Kindaichi series. I don't know how to explain further on my rates for heavy or light mystery though so hopefully the list would suffice . (ADDED: I think the common theme of the dramas would be the *gasp* reaction I was anticipating. The cases was pretty bizarre too). I was expecting some complex turns of events in Gonzo but its more a play on the characters affected by the case... how to make it more tragic according to me? to make the main death to be a character that I would care for. In terms of characterization the violinist seems bland to me.
As for summer dramas, I've only completed seeing one and I'm not going to judge it as the best drama despite how awesome it was .

finishing Iryu 2. I super loved it. Twist are amazing, and Asada was a genuis! (in somehow a realistic way) Plus, he's not egomaniac! unlike Aizawa of the another med drama what a sexy genuis! Its a must watch... you will understand the importance of team work _________________
