Oh, just beat BioShock a few days ago.. that's an amazing game. I highly recommend it, if nothing else, for the stunning environments and unparalleled audio.

Gta 1V is an fantastic game. Some of the missions can be quite epic

Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:

The online mode is quite good too, although the in-game rooms could use a little tweaking. I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes creating mass mayhem.

Just wondering, does anyone play SSBM competitively here?

Well, I haven't posted in a bit.

A local independant game store happened to have new(!) copies of Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and IX. So I picked up a copy of each, and since then have managed to finish VII and VIII. Last time I played VII was something like 10 years ago on the PC. I remember playing VIII on the PC about 8 years ago, but never finished it for some reason. Now I'm working on IX. While the games don't have cutting edge graphics, they are still excellent games.

As if I didn't have enough crap to waste time on, I recently picked up a Nintendo DS Lite. I got it for...Final Fantasy III and IV. Now I have a copy of every main Final Fantasy game released to date. Perhaps one day I'll be able to finish them all.

Anime Dad, how are you doing on Final Fantasy X?

I'm afraid I got bogged down and haven't got back to it for a while. I've been watching a lot of the Olympics and some JDrama, so i've reduced my gaming time Sad

I'll have to get back to VIII and IX someday too ashamed

Same here, and I also have to get back to VII. It took me months to beat FF X, and with my decrease in gaming lately, it may be years before I finish those games.

Once I do, I have to go back to FF VI Sweat

Started playing Trackmania Nations Forever, and while it's a simple racing game, I find myself hooked. Some of the tracks are really creative and fun to race on.

I think with this game and CS: Source, I'm moving towards games that are easy to pick up and play. Well, CS isn't so friendly to beginners, but for me I can just join a deathmatch server and play for 30 minutes. Short spurts seem to work well for me, as opposed to five-hour gaming sessions I used to have.

Running out of new games to play... old platform, obsolete PC... blergh...

So I've been re-playing old ones. I don't know about you guys, but most of the times when I replay a game, there'll always be that moment where I'll lament:

"This is impossible. How in Nine Hells did I did that before?!" Bang Head

*throws something* Grumble

For example, last week I replayed FFX-2. I wonder how the heck did I beat all the cactuar gatekeepers or calibrate all towers...

Took quite some time to get back in rhythm. I feel old Shameful Cry

I never did manage to calibrate all the towers in X-2. I think I only managed 6.... I also never got a hang of Blitzball in X. I only managed to beat the opponents in the one mandatory game by playing a delay game. I never got all the rare cards in Triple Triad either, although I did enjoy playing that mini-game. Tetra Master, on the other hand, I couldn't figure out.

I usually give a go at completing everything, but when I find that I am no longer having fun, I move on.

I'm thinking about buying a PS3, but I have some questions that need to be answered before I actually do so hehe:

Is it true that 20gb and 60gb systems have ps2 playback capabilities, but the 40gb version doesn't? Head Scratch

If I add change out the hard drive myself, will ps2 playback be possible?

What do you guys think? Which system should I buy, 40 or 60?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_3#Retail_configurations

Hopefully that will give you a clearer picture of what's available for each model.

As long as you have the original 20GB or 60GB model, changing the hard drive won't affect PS2 playback.

You can find them on Ebay, but chances are they are used systems. You have to consider the condition of a system and if it has any warranty left on it. I just think that's too variables to consider. There are some supposed new 20GB and 60GB models on Ebay, but prices are high.

Another option would be to buy the 80GB model, but the chances of playing a PS2 game decrease since playback is done via emulation. At least though you can find these at retail for now, the Metal Gear Solid 4 Bundle which can be bought here. Not sure how long those will be around since Sony has introduced the 80GB Core Pack @ $399 and the 120GB pack @ $499, which do not have PS2 playback.

Also, if you already have a PS2, I'd suggest sticking with the 80GB Core Pack. That version is replacing the 40GB. Unless you can find a 40GB for cheaper, then 80GB is the one to get.

Just finished Final Fantasy IX. While it had the ATB system like VII and VIII, it had this weird delay that would cause me problems all the time. In VII and VIII when a character's turn came up, you get to put in a command. The character then acted immediately, whether it be attack, use an item, or defend. In IX, you get to input your command, but your character didn't always act right away. So you order Zidane to use an item on Eiko, but the enemy acts first and hits and KO's Eiko, then your item is wasted....

X-2 had a charge time which is displayed, and due to the charge time your characters didn't act in the same order the commands were given. But in IX the characters all act in the same turn order that the commands were input, so the delay was just weird.

Still, IX was a good game. On to Chrono Cross.

You should try Shadow Hearts: Covenant after ToB. That is my number 1 favourite jRPG.

Sphere Break lacks depth compared to FF8 Triple Triad. But at least I like it more than Tetra Master in FF9.

I finally managed to get a copy of SH:C and finished it last night. Fabulous game; easily one of my top 5. Thanks for the recommendation. Loved the characters, humor, story, gameplay. Pretty much everything. Now I need to get SH, although I did get spoilered by SH:C.

I had finished FFIX right before playing SH:C. I never did get Tetra Master. I managed to win the one mandatory tournament, but I had NO idea what I was doing. I put down my last card, and the whole board comboed in my favor, but it's not like I planned it. I did play and understand Triple Triad, probably still my favorite FF mini-game.

Anime Dad, how goes FFX? Keps, what are you playing currently?

FFX doesn't go at all, unfortunately. I haven't picked up a PS2 controller for a few months Sad I'll have to get back into it though.

Madoka! Hello again. Victory! Peace!

I'm addicted to Team Fortress 2 on PS3. I mainly play as Pyro 'cos I love flaming people, lol. Mr Green
I have played a little Unreal Tournament 3, but as amazing as the game is, I haven't enjoyed it as much as I thought I would.
On the PSN store I recently bought Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection. I had a quick playaround with it last night, and it's looking great.
I really really want Soul Calibur 4, but I haven't got enough money. Puppy Dog Eyes I tried a demo, and loved it. (Never played any SC or Tekken games before these, btw).

I have got Fallout 3 preordered, and I am really excited. I cannot believe it's not going to be marvellous.
I also really want LittleBigPlanet, but no money. Argh.

Japanese maids play with your Wii Wii.

========================================

Play Wii Fit with a Japanese Maid for $25

Why Akihabara's Refresh Club doesn't have a New York outlet, I don't know, but on the wake of this groundbreaking news, they better open it soon. For $25 you will be able to play Wii Fit with Japanese girls in French maid dresses. Yes, Wii Fit, that game with the balance board that often requires you to lean forward and backward. Because, you know, as the owner says, exercise is all about your playmates:

Playing Wii Fit by yourself is lonely. But here, playing along with a maid makes exercising enjoyable.

He is right. And yes, I love French maid dresses. Not to wear them, though. Too bad Brian has left Japan already, because this called for a hands-on.

Finished Wild Arms 4. Ok game, nothing great. I found that I hate jumping puzzles while playing that game. I no longer have the coordination for them. That's also why I don't play fighting games--I can't pull of any combos. Keps, you would totally kill me in those games you mentioned.

I'm starting Suikoden V. I can't wait for Persona 4...only 6 more weeks. Smile
