Hmmm.... It's been a while since Saito_Hajime posted in this thread. Last post by him was May 31, 2007. That's quite a while. Hope to hear from him again soon and also hope he didn't abandon his thread. I miss the old times. Anyways, Happy New Year folks.

_________________

For the jdorama front in the Philippines...
Apparently Lunch Queen, Nobuta wo Produce and Nodame Cantabile are in the process of being dubbed into Filipino. The most likely taker of those dramas will be ABS-CBN.
This bit of info does not really come as a surprise. Precious Time aka Kamisama mou sukoshi dake enjoyed a primetime run in the main channel after it was pulled from the dead lunch timeslot in Studio 23. Also Lunch Queen being on the list of dramas slated to be shown via the network is old in the rumor mill. Probably with the sleeper hit that Precious Time was paved the way to yet again show doramas in Philippine TV. Nobuta is a good addition and Nodame!!! I hope the Philippine public would be interested to see these dramas and will discover a good alternative to Korean and Philippine soaps. _________________
_________________

Nobuta and Nodame??????? Translated into Tagalog? Nooooooooooooooo!
Sorry, but dubbing it into tagalog doesn't make sense especially with all the japanese references.. Oh well.

But the problem is that there are some that wouldn't be able to read subs.
After my last post, I sound like a pompous SOB don't I?
I guess you're right.. Japanese drama watching is different for everybody. For me, I just enjoy the authenticity of it (watching dramas with subs), you get a better feel of the Japanese culture that way.
In advance, if I offended anybody, I apologize, just take my words with a grain of salt.

I didn't think that, but that's the reality there. I really dislike dubbing since it removes the original work. I've seen telenovelas that were dubbed to Tagalog, and it doesn't seem the same.
But I'm surprised that they are thinking of airing Japanese dramas since there seems to be a recent push for Korean-based dramas.

Mean as it may seem:
dubbing = dumbing it down (again, take it with a grain of salt, people)
You have seen a dubbed Japanese Drama? which one was it?
