I wasn't sure about her when Atushime first started, but she's definitely grown on me.

She looks a lot prettier in modern clothing Beaten . Although she did look like a doll once she was in her full regalia in the Ooku.
Wow, very stylish. Though I wouldn't have recognized her if not told.

Umm, actually I was wondering if anyone can tell me what you thought of Junjo Kirari, the asodora that Aoi won best actress for. I read the wiki page at d-addicts, just want to get some comments/reviews before buying it if it's not too much trouble. Thanks.
Just finished watching the whole series of Junjo Kirari last night. Great drama I would say though the ending was so sad and tear-jerking. And
no wonder Aoi Miyazaki won best actress, she was superb and fantastic!
And in last year Taiga drama, Atsuhime, she did a brilliant job again. I
highly recommend you watch it.

Watch Atsuhime:

Aoi promotes her new movie Shonen Merikensack, opened on Feb 14 in Japan.

http://mainichi.jp/enta/geinou/graph/200902/02_2/index.html

A record company employee discovers a punk rock band called "Shonen Merikensack" and is assigned the task of signing them even though she's not particularly adept at her job and doesn't enjoy punk music.

I think she was awesome and brilliant in Atsuhime and Junjo Kirari, won best actress in both TV dramas. She was also awarded best actress for the movie Eureka (2000) and Gaichu (2001) though I haven't seen these two movies yet. I think she is a remarkable and talented actress.

Among Aoi's TV dramas & movies, I like her best in
1. Atsuhime
2. Junjo Kirari
3. Heavenly Forest
4. Hatsu- Koi
5. Umi de no Hanashi

I think her acting in NANA & Virgin Snow was not so deep, but she was OK. Same for her acting in Su-ki-da.

At the moment I am watching Aoi's "Flowers In The Shadow" & looking forward to see all her other movies & TV dramas.

^ I don't know of anyone who has actually seen it (outside of Japan). It's probably not available subtitled, anyway.

I thought she was terrific in Nana. I had not seen anything with her before and really did not know her. I only watched Nana because I love Nakashima Mika's voice and talent. But then having seen Aoi chan in Nana, I became an instant fan. Such a magic smile and magnetism.
Smitten
Naturally nothing can compare to her magnificent portrayal of Princess Atsu. What an amazing actress to be able to pull that of so convincingly. I had doubts that she could handle that role as she was so ditzy in Nana.
But after about 5 episodes of Atsu Hime she suddenly morphed into that role so completely to where I no longer recalled her as having been in Nana.

It is available raw in Clubbox. I wonder how many people would have the patience to download over 100 x 100mb+ files?
