It's a goldmine for Ryoko fans, but also for those who love Kobayashi Satomi...They share the female lead...it's almost like watching an acting competition...

This is an vastly unappreciated drama...It is superb!

I checked the tracker at d-addicts a few hours ago and couldn't see my IP address listed in the peers. I just checked it again and it's there, 65% complete, with an average download speed of over 450kb/s! Shocked

Pretty Girls... Katase Nana in red leather pants. Yeah, that was a good series.

My shows this week...

I started Zeni Geba as my comfy chair show because it was written by Okada Yoshikazu. The guy who gave us:

Churasan
Beach Boys
Antique
Yume California
Koibume
Home Drama
Ai no Uta
Muri na Renai
among others.

So far... well... I guess nobody hits it out of the park every time at bat. I'm two episodes in and I'm sitting here wondering if I wouldn't rather just watch the news and go to bed.

On the other hand, my lunchtime show is Uta no Onii-San, a silly little drama about a singer in a rock band who ends up as the third banana on a children's TV show, playing everything from a dog, to an acorn.

And I love it. (So much for my discerning tastes.)

Kimura Yoshino is fabulous in this show playing the producer.

Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:

Oh, and Katase Nana is in here too... sadly, no red leather pants.

Kaneshiro has also been in a lot of Chinese movies lately (he's half Chinese and bilingual) and his latest is John Woo's Magnum Opus Red Cliff I & II. There'd been rumors of a 2.5 hr cut for the western audiences (trimmed down from 5 hrs) that will be shown in the European markets first (they've yet to find a distributor in the US). DVDs and Blu-rays are already available (part II this Friday) on yesasia and dddhouse.com. He's also in Wong Kar-wei's Chungking Express (one of his earlier movies); just re-watched it on Criterion's Blu-ray this weekend and I still consider it as one of my all time favorites.

You`re right, it`s the European release of Red Cliff I was talking about and yeah it`s unfortunaley not a rumour, the movies were cut into one 2.5h movie. Grumble bleh
The reviews weren`t that good - thy made it sound like a total guys movie a la Rambo but I will be going anyway.

@G-Mark-san - I think I have downloaded Sweet Rain - looking 4ward to watch it Victory! Peace!
@Evie wow I watched episode 5 of Golden Bowl yesterday as well and I am still loving this show. This must be the 5th time In love

Finished Aoi Tori it was o.k., but I've never been a big fan of the "star-crossed lovers/tragic romance" genre. Give me Macbeth or Hamlet over Romeo and Juliet anyday. Time for something pointless and mindless.

That shouldn't be too difficult, given the state of most J-Dramas recently. Beaten

Sad but true, I would kill for another drama like Kekkon Dekinai Otoko or Nodame Cantabile.

Currently watching Mei-chan no shitsuji episode 5th,

en Anna san no omame episode 4th, it surely makes me laugh out loud seeing riri with her huge misunderstanding towards all the men that is around her Crazy

Okay, so I've started watching dramas again after the trip. Picked up on Atsu-hime... now epi 30. I keep falling asleep! The last attempt I fell asleep within the first five minutes of turning it on. Doh!

I'm guessing it's the fact that I hadn't caught up with the sleep yet. I have now tho. I'll try it again tonight.

I finished it last night w00t! Shameful Cry I realised although the subs I have are good, they derive too much from the Japanese original for my taste.

I will try to buy the original DVDs when in Japan. w00t! w00t!
