So desu yo. That's why I think I want a wider lens like the 24mm or the 35mm.

And it would seem Nikon is just about to announce 2-3 new DSLRs as well. I hope that they all include major price reductions!

Well someone else will have to give them equal time: I'm a Canon person. Bleah

There's another guy on the 'net who's a staunch Nikon guy--Ken Rockwell--who claims to be the know it all regarding digital photography.

For the longest time, he extolled the virtues of the APS-sized sensor and why Nikon has stuck with it and would NEVER take the 35mm-sized sensor path like Canon.

WRONG.

Nikon released the full-frame D3x this year. Bleah

Yeah, that was a poor prediction. Even he should have realized that pros hate the 1.5x factor of the APS sensor. Wide angle isn't so wide when it's factored in.

Funny thing is, the claims claims he's a pro (maybe he is) yet doesn't realize the limitations of the APS-sized sensor. Crazy

Nikon is releasing a new D5000 camera with swivel screen, as well as a 10-24 wide zoom lens.

It's an interesting camera, but I'm not sure what market they are shooting for. It's a bit much for the amateur, and the advanced amateurs would go for the D90, I would think.

But the swivel screen is a nice feature I wish my camera would have. Not easy to take an overhead shot if you have a larger lens, though.

That type of screen is common with the Canon "pro-sumer" cameras... Wonder if it'll get incorporated in future DSLRs.....?

The big loss from moving away from the crazy lady: I can no longer use her Rebel XTi. I miss it now that the weather is getting to be so pretty. I want to go out shooting! My camera feels so dated by comparison.

Oh, I know about the new goodies - I'm on all the tech sites, 5 times a day... it's sad really - I know about everything that every camera company has announced. I'm just missing using a really nice camera, even if her lens was bleh

Well, even with the weak kit lens, the camera provided excellent ergonomic manual controls over my images and a sensor with far cleaner, higher resolution imaging than my current camera (which actually has a really nice lens). Sure a fantastic lens would have made it all the better.. but it was a treat to use in comparison with what I have Smile
