Fans of Fujiki Naohito will have a second alternative this spring if they are not contented with Ikemen Sobaya Tantei on Saturday evenings.
Fujiki plays a philandering hairstylist with a saccharin charm who is surrounded by powerful possessive women wanting more than a mere haircut. The main engine that keeps this series running is his mysterious past which will unwrap as the series move along. Predictably, there will be characters appearing on and off to prick his conscience.
What makes it worth watching: FUJIKI SMOOCHING THE LADIES' FEET and the strong cast, of course.

Not particularly gripping at this moment since it's the episode that introduces the backstory and the characters. I'm not too won over by Fujiki's charm. He and Kimura Yoshino as the main leads are average. We know he's going to self-destruct and maybe the exciting part will be seeing how everything unravels but it might be a very predictable past that accounts for his present behaviour. _________________

What about Yui-chan?
She's probably the most interesting character in the drama for me at this moment I figure she could outdo Kimura Yoshino in acting but the role may or may not allow for it. _________________

Well Yui-san is always reliable (kinda like Amami Yuki & Abe Hiroshi). _________________

agreed. i also felt somehow the 2 leads are missing in something. yoshino's character just =.=!!! me sometime, just don't quite get what exactly is she driving at. kinda boring.
although i've always like fujiki, i too didn't get won over by his charm in the drama. and because what exactly his character has committed in the past was already being revealed right from the start, it made it no longer exciting to find out more what he is up to.
as for yui's character... i seriously want to know what she is up to! how her character get involve with and relate to the 2 leads...
i would prefer if this drama is a mini drama, like maybe just 6 episodes... no point dragging it for too long, cos' it will get boring.... _________________
- Fujiki smooching the ladies' feet.
- Best score of all the Spring dramas I've watched (I'm a sucker for Latin-Flamenco music).
- Natsukawa Yui, and pretty solid performances by others.
The bad:
- Fujiki smooching the ladies feet.
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:
To be precise, an obasan's feet, which is quite disconcerting - no disrespect to obasan's, just the one in the drama (in fact, someone on a Chinese language board alluded it to slurping/sucking a marinated chicken's feet, a Chinese dim sum). Then again, that's probably the whole point as the writer's trying to illustrate he's willing to do anything to achieve his goals.
- Standard "l'homme fatal" plot, similar to the "femme fatale" storyline in Kurokawa no Techo. Even though Matsumoto Seicho's suppose to be one of the greatest Japanese mystery writers, the adapted dramas/movies I've seen are all related to crimes of passion or human ambition, and the mysteries are not very intricate either.
- Logic gaps.
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:
e.g. what kind of D.A. uses his attractive daughter as bait(in a crime involving a lady killer no less), and does the Japanese legal system allow a person to be detained for 2 days w/o any charges?
It's still a bit early, time will tell how good it is.

fabricated charge of assault in this case.
I don't know if I want to stick around because the plot seems like its already stretching thin and I don't really care what Sayama does or doesn't do. He seems to be a character with the typical traits of that one finds in similar stories where the protagonist falls from grace or rather self-destructs. The heart of the story is probably supposed to be the "fatal attraction" between Sayama and Sachiko but I've not been drawn into their relationship or see that happening at all even though the driving force behind it can be inferred early in Ep2. Natsukawa Yui's Fukiko is still the only character that continues to interest me. She probably has some link to the past.
Kobayashi Nenji's public prosecutor character doesn't seem logical. What exactly is he thinking and what does he want? _________________

I just finished watching ep1. i really did not have any high expectation for this drama but thought Naohito might makes the difference but unfortunately it did not.
there is no chemistry between Yoshino and Naohito and their characters apart from the their act that wanted to make us believe it. and how on earth Michio just fell in love with Sachiko in the 1st place? even as a love from the 1st sight was not that convincing.
i am thinking if they have switched Yoshino and Yui's character, it might have made some difference.

totally agree. you can't feel something special about it at all.
saying all this, i probably continue watching it because Naohito's look is too hot to resist in this drama unless it gets too boring out of control that makes me give up in it and to be honest, i see that coming very soon.

Haha unless the characters are all killed off or we'll have no hope of the drama ending quickly. This one will probably be 8 - 10 episodes long.
Yup Yui's character is certainly more intriguing than Kimura Yoshino's because it seems that her interest and information on Sayama doesn't seem to come from a professional standpoint but personal. And if she's Sachiko's friend, how close and good a friend is she?
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:
She hasn't warned Sachiko off from Sayama nor did she reveal his past. Well even if she did, I think it would probably have been useless. It looks like she would do anything to get hold of evidence on Sayama even if it means using Sachiko.

haha out of point here, but suddenly i have a silly thought..
maybe....
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:
probably yui's character used to be a guy who is in love with the girl whom sayama killed in the beginning. then he became a woman and now is taking revenge.. hahaha.. maybe that explain why firstly yui knows so much about sayama and is attracted to sachiko..
okay.. this is silly...
but anyway, it is sad that kimura yoshino and fujiki naohito characters didn;t come out as strong as expected.. the main thing i was drawn to the drama initially was because of the 2 of them.. now.. well........ _________________

Just watch the ep1 a few hours ago.
Can't quite understand it..yet. Maybe the whole background/flashback thing, and honestly, can't really understand the character...yet!
I had this "what the hell" moment watching this, don't know why, maybe that's the problem I can't understand the character.
The only big plus is Fujiki Naohito, because he so freaking HOT in this dorama. Maybe the whole seducing thing...and oh, the smile!!!!
OK, after ep.3, I'm throwing in the towel, and should also add a 'The ugly:' or 'Warning:' section
Everytime a certain obasan purred "yada...mo...eeeh", etc. (may send chills down your spine, induce nightmares or short term mental scarring)
From the plot to the directing, it's way too easy to tear the show apart (even Natsukawa Yui can't save this one). The score is just about the only reason left for me to "listen" to the drama, since this being a TV Asahi show an OST is all but out of the question (although I'll have to fumble for my mouse frequently to fast forward the afore mentioned scenes).
in reading this i am kinda surprised at the reaction to some of the characters.
Perhaps i am not too into the depth so much as the story-line is interesting. I always thought character played by Yui was intriguing, but i was more into the beautiful Yoshino(Sachiko). I am not exactly sure the chemistry btw Sachiko and the character played by Naohito. Its interesting to say the least, not sure if i give it a total thumbs down.

to be honest, Yoshino's sachiko is really getting on my nerve now. watched ep5 and i still don't know the reason behind her change in character. it supose to be all for sake of her life. but i am not getting this emotions through her acting. and till now, she just looks like an obsessive stalker.
beauty aside (as it is really a matter of taste and i am finding Yui is the most beautiful character in the drama), both lead character's acting and their supposed chemistry and passionate love between the two, not only is not getting any better but is getting more on annoying side.
the most annoying part of this drama? its naration through out the entire ep. why on earth they have to incude it?
the only reason that keeps me watching the worst drama of this season is wanting to find out what is the story behind Yui's character and Naohito's becuase there is a hint of it every where.
and maybe because i like self torture? _________________

Aside from Yoshino's gorgeous-ness, i do agree that her character's obsessive ways is kinda of annoyingly scary, yet i am still captivated by her beauty. With that said, i do agree too that the narration is really not so necessary and if anything, it brings it kinda down. The chemistry btw Naohito and Yoshino i thought started off well, but in some kind of twisted way as this drama is. I probably thought Yui played a more bitter-love broken hearted woman, but its more complicated than that, and she was not really a character i really wanted to follow much, i just thought the whole thing was twisted.
Naohito's characters darkside is evident and shows throughout, yet i do see a stoic side to him that i have seen in other j-dramas, but that doesn't mean its bad, that's just his style and my opinion.
