ah thanks for the multiple help here~ (how come I missed the thread? O.O)
Yeah, I heard that it's very common to talk the sales clerks into lowering the prices, but I'm not really fluent in kansai ben and everything I know would be considered either be too soft or too harsh, I hope I'll manage XD Thanks again~
Flying to Japan this aug and I'm really in need of a digicam. I've been thinking of buying one in akihabara or in some high tech store in osaka, because I assume they would be cheaper and better there than the ones I get here in Austria, but then I won't have any garantee when it breaks. What do you guys think, should I purchase one here before leaving or there? and do you think Austrian hi-tech stores will be willing to fix my japanese camera when it breaks? Thanks in advance~
I didn't find the price of digi merch in Tokyo that different than the costs here in Canada, so I'm not sure if the cheaper costs will apply to you, either. Though... your currency is Euro, so I dunno.
Still, I wouldn't recommend purchasing from Japan, because, like you said, what if your camera breaks? I think it's worth it in the long run to just get it locally. _________________

Unless it's a model not sold in your country, they should still be able to repair it locally... But like I said, it wouldn't be covered by the warranty.

English should work too. Perhaps not as well as if you can haggle with Japanese, however you can try and use your 'gaijin' lingo to haggle.
Shouldn't be too bad. It's not like they'll treat you like the ugly girl at the dance. _________________

Still checking the various digicam offers here, thanks for all the help, guys!
Celebrating 30 years of Gundam I went to Odaiba to check out the newly built 1:1 scale RX-78-2 Gundam. This is AWESOME!!! Scheduled grand opening is next weekend. The head is supposed to move with emitting lights and shooting mists all over. Unfortunately, this is only on display for two months.

I'm trying to imagine some otaku in one of those apartments across the bay waking up and seeing that. He probably thinks he's died and gone to heaven!!
