Didn't know there's even a thread related to F1 racing??? Wow jdorama really has everything under the sun. LOL!!!

I should explore more i guess instead of being in a certain thread ONLY!!! Sweat

By the way, i'm not an F1 fan but got to know more about this cos my country hosted the first ever night race last year. And the next race held in Singapore will be in end of September.

It was interesting how Massa botched his pit-stop with the petrol hose still attached to his car. hehe

Glad to know he is out of danger following the accident during qualifications. Sweat

LOL, Button's practically backing into the Driver's Championship... Though I wouldn't mind seeing Rubens Barichello win it all. Victory! Peace!

Ecclestone concerned over Renault probe

LONDON (AFP) - - Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone fears the FIA probe into Fernando Alonso's victory in Singapore earlier this year could result in Renault walking away from the sport.

An investigation was announced last week after allegations that Alonso's then team-mate Nelson Piquet crashed on lap 14 in order to give the Spaniard a better chance to win.

Ecclestone claims Renault boss Flavio Briatore is fuming about the investigation, which is likely to involve detailed analysis of all the technical data on the team's participation in the race, including pit-wall communications.

"This is not the sort of thing we need at the moment," Ecclestone told the Times. "Them leaving the sport is a danger, obviously. I mean, I hope that it isn't like that, but it's the sort of thing that might happen.

"What I know, I can't say, to be honest with you. All I know is that Flavio is insisting that he knows nothing about it. I think the FIA are looking into everything.

"They are trying to find out the reality. I suppose they would be upset if they found out that what people are assuming is true, is in fact true, I suppose."

^ Alonso won in Sept last year... Shake Head

The cynic in me did think that something was fishy when reading reports after the race that Piquet Jr crashed his car. Head Scratch

I'm not an F1 fan and didn't take any interest in it at all even when i knew that my country was hosting the first night race ever. I dislike over-hyped stuff. However, i managed to catch the qualification rounds, and it looked interesting!!! hehe

Then on the race day itself, thought that i would just stay at home and watch it on my tv set. However, when i saw the aerial view of the track, made me curious to get a glimpse of the action. Bonk

So i managed to persuade my dad to drive us over the Sheares Bridge and we saw the cars whizzing past around the tracks!!! And it was LOUD!!! And the streets were bright...VERY BRIGHT Applaud

Before we left home, Massa was in the lead. But i told my brothers that Alonso was gonna win. Dunno why i had this gut feeling. Hahaha. I didn't see Massa's botched pit-stop LIVE. We were on the roads ourselves during that time. Mr Green

This couldn't have anything to do with that fact that Piquet Jr. doesn't drive for them anymore could it? No, that would just be an amazing coincidence.

I mean, he crashed on lap 14, that's just way too soon, there's too many things that could happen between then and the end of the race. It's one thing to "conveniently" spin out and another to pile it in the wall and do a couple hundred thousand dollars worth of damage.

This whole thing has Piquet Sr.'s sour grapes finger prints all over it.

I could swear that sounds like a plot from an episode of Speed Racer. Beaten

Renault summoned by FIA in Singapore race-fix probe

PARIS (AFP) - - Renault were told on Friday they must appear before an extraordinary hearing of the FIA's World Motor Sport Council to answer charges that they caused a deliberate crash in last year's Singapore Grand Prix.

The meeting will take place here on September 21 when team officials will be asked to account for Nelson Piquet's crash in the night race, after suspicions were raised that the accident was intentional with the aim of helping team-mate Fernando Alonso win.

"Renault F1 have been requested to appear before an extraordinary meeting of the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Paris on Monday, 21 September 2009," said a statement released by the FIA.

"The team representatives have been called to answer charges... that the team conspired with its driver, Nelson Piquet Jr, to cause a deliberate crash at the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix with the aim of causing the deployment of the safety car to the advantage of its other driver, Fernando Alonso."

Alonso's victory in Singapore came after he had enjoyed the advantage of refuelling just before Piquet's crash, which introduced the safety car period.

Piquet has denied all suggestions that he was ordered to crash and instead he has insisted that he spun off because he was pushing too hard.

Piquet was dismissed by Renault last month and was afterwards outspoken in his criticism of the team and team boss Flavio Briatore, describing the Italian as his executioner.

Former world champions Renault have already been in the FIA dock this season.

They were banned for one race after a wheel flew off Alonso's car at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

However, the suspension, which would have ruled Alonso out of his home race in Valencia in August, was lifted on appeal.

Canadian GP set to return in 2010

The Canadian Grand Prix should return to the Formula One calendar next year according to the race's organisers.

Canada was not included in the 2009 season due to a dispute between local organisers, Grand Prix F1 du Canada and Formula One Administration , which holds the commercial rights to the F1 series.

"I am very happy, and fully satisfied, with this outcome. I have always been confident of being able to resolve the dispute," said Normand Legault, President and CEO of Grand Prix F1 du Canada in a statement.

"I am especially pleased that an announcement is forthcoming to the effect that the Canadian Grand Prix will be back on the FIA calendar as of 2010.

"I never doubted that the Canadian race would regain its rightful place on the schedule, and my discussions with F1 management led me to believe that the event would return soon," he added.

Legault said, however, that he would not remain involved as a local promoter.

The Canadian Grand Prix had been part of the F1 World Championship since 1967 and since 1982 has been held at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.
