wow.. never expected to see so much hate towards Bleach i can see that if u dont like naruto.. u ain't gonna like bleach either..especially to all you "hardcore" anime fans.. (im assuming cuz these are the 2 mainstream series) but i can't comprehend how u can like one and completely dislike the other
I watched about 100+ of both, naruto was difficult and I nearly killed myself trying to figure out why it was so popular. Bleach is a LITTLE better.
here's what i'm saying. regardless of the precious little characters that everyone loves (and hates), if you have to have 200+ episodes a significant number are flashback and filler. You didn't need to do 200+ episodes in the first place. You could easily have gotten the same amount of story out of half the number. If you look at all the old long series space operas or the classic 50+ series, they all have very little filler and only flashbacks every so often to catch up new viewers or refresh old viewers.
Even MSG, which i don't particularly like all of, is in total a super long series, but it is broken up so that there are nearly no fillers and a lame arc leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth. Even with that, it's still a popular series and the plots are repeated over and over with very little effort made to mask it.
So what does it all boil down to? Greedy merchandising and product placement.

I started a show called "Toradora" about two highschool classmates, a tiny agressive girl and a scary looking yet nice boy. So far so fun.
Almost went crazy with the"endless eight" episodes of "The Melancoly of Haruhi Suzumiya season 2" - nothing for ADHD sufferers like myself .
Toradora was a nice anime. One of the few that I watched that season.
Endless Eight went on too long for me. After awhile I just checked the end of the ep to see if they stopped looping. Thank God they finally did. _________________

Well I don't know about other long-running animes, but Bleach runs very closely to its original manga. The reason for all those flashbacks and fillers are because the anime running too close to the manga, and the anime producers wouldn't want anger the manga fans when it comes to the story, character or plot. Imagine that the anime runs once a week, while the manga is only released 3 months later. Like the current episodes, they'r running the filler arc now because the manga is also on the Winter War, while the anime is only a few chapters away.
Who should we blame then? The manga creator? _________________

There's a rumor about Toradora being made into a live-action drama series. Afraid they're going to butcher it again. If it's as good as Nodame I won't mind, but... _________________

Hopefully I could have more fun watching Saki, oh well, I know it's a LOT of fun since I am fond of being an otaku as I can't keep my eyes off the show all the time. But I have no idea how to play "Moejoeng" I sort of wonder like I need to more know it. (Moejoeng, spell? Correct? xD) _________________

One of the few longer running animes I love is Inuyasha although it never properly finished. And now finally there will be 26 new episodes to finish the story - airing starts October
