Lol, cute trailer. (I loved the part when Nodame chomps on Chiaki senpai's neck ==> ) But whazzup with Tamaki Hiroshi??? He looks so... emaciated here! The feller lost half his body weight since the drama, I swear--did he subsist on a diet of music sheets and cigarettes while filming in Europe? His skin looks like translucent parchment paper stretched over stone... er, bone. And his hair. Is. Just. Weird. Me no likee.

Squee?
Er, gomen, just some fangirly lingo that inadvertently came out. "Squee: (verb) To squeal with glee; from a combination of the two words; the sound of an excited fangirl." (urbandictionary.com)

No... But it was an immensely satisfying scene (and the crescendo from Rhapsody in Blue helped as well)... And notice that they didn't let the scene get too romantically thick and heavy: it gets immediately lightened up when Nodame's dad screams at them from the boat.... hehe
Hahahahaha I nearly died watching that scene!!!
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:
When Chiaki's head lolled back in a dead faint, with only the whites of his eyes showing, his face in a rictus of his own mortification and his arms still limply fused to Nodame's torso--while she blithely waved back at her livid, screaming dad--LOL! LOL! LOL! I busted at a few ribs there; sooo funny, that scene!
And you're right, the writer/director knew exactly when to rein it in. That little moment was perfect in every way, and its tonal mixing of the heartwarming with the insanely funny was so characteristic of the entire series. (And yeah, a little Gershwin didn't hurt, either. )

Didn't he lose weight for some role or something?
Whatever the reason, he hasn't gained it back, much to the chagrin of his girl fans (notice I didn't say "fangirls?" )

So ka.... As long as it's not habitual, it's cool.

Your analysis is spot on: perfectly measured and blended, like a fine meringue.... Jacques Pepin would be proud.
I can't say enough about the writing and direction: it never ever gets wildly out of control in the comic or dramatic direction... Just plain perfect.
