I personally use fender guitars. Stratocastors are the model that Ken uses except his is made by fernandez. Fernandez guitars aren't that good in my opinion (except Ken's personal guitars since they custom make his). Gretsch is also part of fender...like a side company of fender's. They got pretty good guitars. My friend has a Yamaha and it's pretty good from beginners and intermediate I guess. I don't recommend you get Fender Strats or Gibson Les Pauls just yet since they're really expensive and a beginner would just be seen as wasting the guitar's potential. I recommend you just buy any guitar to learn first...just go into the store and test any of them out and see what sounds good and has a fair cost. Then when you're good get a better guitar.

Samick is a company that works for major guitar companies and they sell guitars which have high end parts from the companies they work for, but they sell their guitars for less. You can basically get a $1200 sounding guitar for $800. Gibson, Fender, and Ibanez are probably the top. The rest kinda suck and most companies are just a part of these 3 companies. The main thing you need to do is just go into the store and play all of them and see which one you like.

The bass is just a deeper sounding guitar with only 4 strings. If you know what a violin looks like imagine a really big version that you need to stand up to play. That's the original bass......the basses people use now a days are guitar shaped. I'm at conflict now, I've been recommending strats...but now I kinda want a black gibson les paul. I gotta decide before saturday cause i'm buying it then.

On a different note, I went to j-town yesterday and saw the smile CD! But sooooo expensive! There were also a few used laruku CDs (older ones) but even those were expensive! ($23).

You live in Japan? Why is it so expensive? Here in Singapore you can get new Laruku albums at around SG$23 from HMV for the asian versions. My SMILE album cost me a BOMB thou... SG$57 cos I got it from CDJapan ! Yeah... I believe theres something seriously wrong with me And in such broke situation... I still manage to get hold of Laruku Pia and BPASS recently!!!! Guess I'll have to eat grass soon if my pay doesn't come any sooner _________________
