I don't know about you but I just took out my pool noodles and life vest in order to prepare for the next storm.

Hello JD California members - Please stay safe in all of your heavy rain storms! And don't forget to keep a big braking distance between you and the cars in front of you. My theory is that drivers get hypnotised by the movement of their windshield wipers, so drive safely. Victory! Peace!

I spent late Tuesday night making sure the gutters on my roof were clean as a whistle. I snaked the down spouts. Tested the sump pumps in back and made sure the lines were clean. I was ready.

So naturally the power at the house was out Wednesday morning. The sump pumps never started, and the back yard flooded.

We need the rain... We need the rain... We need the rain... We need the rain...

Geezer,
I know your feelings. Remember being flooded out in NJ years ago. My mother was over visiting and she and I had to leave the house in a rowboat with a fireman. My husband stayed to try and save furniture by taking it up into the attic. My mother said to the fireman.
"Well I just came over here on the Queen Mary and now I'm leaving the house in a rowboat."
We stayed in the church hall through the night where a woman had a baby and a dog had six puppies. A fruitful night.

Then got flooded in Racine Wisconsin. Total destructioin of everything in the basement. Hundreds of books and record collections. Yard and yards of beautiful materials that I used to collect. Can't resist a lovely piece of silk from the East.

I hate floods and would rather have fire because you can't save anything from a flood but it smells and is a mess to clean up.

So far here I have only lost the patio umbrella. It's a strong wind and still raining.

Peg

What's with the extreme weather?

It's gonna be 39C everywhere tomorrow, and at least 43C in parts of Sydney. That's 110F, folks. My dad wanted to come over tomorrow to my house to help me remove a tree. Bugger that. I'm going to be sitting inside, with the aircon on Bleah

I'm sure it's a relief you can stay indoors on day like that. 110F is not even funny. Just thinking about it makes me Sweat

You know it, man. My old man is nuts - he'll be 80 this year, but likes nothing better than being out in the heat, working. I definitely didn't get his love of the heat Bleah
