Oh. I only know Stan Lee and Todd McFarlane.
Curses on McFarlane...though he did get smacked around in the Gaiman/McFarlane lawsuit...Miracleman, hopefully soon!
Flipping through my GTO volumes now...what a hilarious manga.
For those classic comic fans, it seems that Essential Daredevil vol. 2, Essential Tomb of Dracula vol. 2, and Marvel Masterworks: Amazing Spiderman vol. 6 are out (came out just last month)... _________________

Yeah, that guy is the greatest!

I always thought that McFarlane had a lot of talent. I liked him best when he was doing Spider Man at Marvel. But when he moved over to Image comics, I somewhat lost interest in his work. (My Spawn comic collection stopped at issue 24) _________________

Yeah, everyone was ga-ga about McFarlane's Spidey with the big eyes and intricate, wacky webs, but the best Spidey artwork is from John Romita, Sr., IMO.

I thought that was a pretty nice "change" that McFarlane did with the Spider Man eyes and stuff. I guess it was something for the younger generation, or something.
I don't know if I know of John Romita's work.
I always thought that Jim Lee did an excellent job with the X-Men comic. Those were my favorite at the time. _________________

Yeah, I really like Sean Chen as well. I used to read his work when he started off working on Dr. Mirage for Valiant.
McFarlane can draw a lot of things well, especially faceless people with no feet. Add in feet or a face, and his art looks very wacked out.
@aho: by Spawn issue 24 wasn't it Greg Capullo and others working more on Spawn than McFarlane was? _________________

Romita is, of course, classic. I have to say I do like Bagley's interpretation of a more wirey Spider-man. Unfortunately his work was overlooked because of the horrible storytelling during that era (Maximum Clonage anyone?). He's changed his style quite a bit for Ultimate Spider-man (more kiddy/less detail), which is just "ok." _________________

Yeah, another reason why I stopped.
I followed McFarlane's work when he moved to Image, and thus my Spawn collection. As boring as the story was, I just kept on buying them 'cause at that time, McFarlane's work was the trend. After when Greg started working on Spawn, issue 24 was when I chose to quit already.
I also thought Maxx was pretty crappy too. _________________

Oh ok. That style looks a little familiar. I probably saw it at my friend's house or something. (That guy was a comic maniac back in the day) _________________

Much of early image was crap, unfortunately. Not a storyline that really stands out. Only when Alan Moore retooled Supreme and Warren Ellis retooled Stormwatch did the stories get any buzz.
Actually, two early Image comics I liked were Union and Deathblow. Deathblow because Jim Lee's darker style on that was really neat, and Union because the storyline started off interesting before it disappeared. _________________

I don't think I know of these two stories. That was probably when I stopped collecting comics. (All McFarlane's fault )

Yeah, I seen Deathblow before. I thought it was pretty cool but unfortunately (even though it was Jim Lee and all) I just couldn't get back into the comic craze that I had fallen out of. _________________
