Considering how successful it was ratings-wise, you've gotta think a sequel is being considered...

After two episodes, so far, so good... The medical procedures and issues are quite realistic and graphic... Maybe too much so. Sweat

Finished off the drama yesterday... Good show.

Fine performances from the entire cast... And Uchino Masaaki pretty much steals the show with a spot-on imitation of Mifune Toshiro's ronin from various Kurosawa films like Seven Samurai and Yojimbo.

The time travel plot line is always intriguing and this drama makes a nod to Back to the Future with its "Do my actions affect the future?" premise. Victory! Peace!

Quite a bit of sentimental weeping and whatnot in each episode but it's not pathetic like in Sekai no chuushin de, ai wo sakebu bleh , so it's tolerable... A little melodramatic at times, but it doesn't derail the story or its flow. The medical stuff is quite detailed and graphic, too much so most of the time, IMO.

Overall, an 8.5/10... Recommended viewing. Victory! Peace!

"JIN" wins four in Drama of the Year awards

TVnavi magazine has wrapped up its annual Drama of the Year poll, and this time, readers gave the title to the TBS series "JIN" that aired this past fall.

In addition to being named Drama of the Year, the show won in three other categories. Lead actor Takao Osawa (42) was voted Best Actor, while Masaaki Uchino (41) and Haruka Ayase (24) received Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress. This is the first time that a series has won in four of TVnavi's award categories.

Cool. Victory! Peace!

Though I would've given the Best Supporting Actress nod to Nakatani Miki. Victory! Peace!

I just finished episode 3. OMG, tearjerker drama. Not in the same manner as how Taiyou no Uta, 1 litre of tears and Niinii no koto wasurenai de. This drama has no real-life basis but it made me sob on how Minakata-sensei wanted to save the lives of the dying but having second thoughts if he'll do or not. I feel his pain when he doesn't want to affect the future on trying to change the destinies of the people in Edo period.

That's always been a key element in time-travel stories: how will their actions affect the future... Quite perplexing.

I was reading up on space-time travel (read: Wiki Beaten) and discovered all these different theories being used to refute the paradoxes of time pretzels.

Paradox 1: the grandfather paradox, i.e. what if you traveled back and killed your gramps before he was old enough to get married and have kids? then you'd never be born. Puppy Dog Eyes

Paradox 2: the autoinfanticide paradox, i.e. what if you traveled back into your own past and killed yourself as a kid? (which is seriously wack to begin with Sweat)

Both will negate the very existence of the time traveler. Head Scratch Theoreticists get around these loopholes with explanations such as the multiple-universes theory: a parallel world diverges from your own universe at the point where you try and change an event in the past. You could kill your own gramps in a parallel universe, but he'd still be alive in your own universe. Sweat

Kewl, huh? Victory! Peace!

Interesting.

I have watched time-travel series before. And yes, the same thing repeats itself. lol. But in Minakata-sensei's case, I don't know, I just got carried away with this drama enough to make me teary-eyed watching it.

There seems to be an inordinate amount of crying in the drama. Beaten
