Actually I donft have any particular favourites, but there are a few artists that I think have very good songs. Nice to see that there are people who like Southern All Stars (SAS) and Fayray too!
I took notice of SAS after hearing Shiroi Koibitotachi on Music Station. Well you can say I like Kuwata specifically. He was simply great in that song. Since then, Ifve tried looking for more songs from him and SAS. A surprise is that many Chinese singers had actually done covers of their songs, that just says how popular they were in the 80fs. Their songs are very good albeit quite old-fashion, the fast numbers are catchy and the slow ones are romantic. Some of my favourites are the more recent Tsunami, Hotel Pacific and the oldie, Itoshi no Ellie.
One bugging question though, Taiwanese singer Fan Yi Cheng had done a mandarin cover of an old SAS song for the Korean Drama Piano. Anyone knows what is the name of the original by SAS?
For Fayray, I have only two songs, but IMO they are two of her best songs. Therefs Baby Ifc which she sang for the drama, Ashita ga arusa and also Tears, which she sang for another drama (which I cant remember). These two ballads are very beautiful!!
Lastly, I want to mention Hotei Tomoyasu!! He was the guitarist for boowy, one of the pioneering Jrock band in the 80's. Over the years since their split, he has sang some very catchy rock n' roll tunes (check out Russian Roulette!!) accompanied by excellent guitar work. More recently, he did a track for the Kill Bill Vol 1 OST called Battle Without Honour Or Humanity. Manc I saw his life performance of that track in last weekfs Music Station (Hikki was in it too! ), hefs fantastic!! Nothing like the recorded track which on comparison sounds so tame!
There, I probably said too much, but please take the time to answer my question if you know the answer. Thanks!!

Current Favourite

- Sugazaki Akane
- Miki Nakatani (after watching Joi)
Well, some of them are not really that popular, but they have very nice songs.
