Yeah, they were having a good clearance sale in the final days at the old location. I work out almost every day at the LA Fitness at the mall, so I'm there all the time. This is good. _________________

I happened to visit Mitsuwa in San Jose recently, and somebody is establishing a Japan Arts and Cultural Center in the same strip mall:

Why the strip mall? Japantown SJ is in need of their revitalizing touch. Mataka mo, honto-ni. _________________

Nisei Week officially starts today
Tonight they crown this years Nisei Week Queen. I know there was some discussion about who was selected queen last year, I wanted to relate something that happened to me. About a month ago I went over to JANM, they were showing the movie You Don't Know Jack: The Jack Soo Story (link here:http://www.jacksoo.com/) Anyway, Dana Fujiko Heatherton, this years Nisei Week Queen was there. I talked with her for a little bit and I realized that the Nisei Week Queen and her court go to a lot of functions. They go to Japan, the Cherry Blossom Festival in S.F. and other stuff. At these events the Nisei Week Queen always has to give a speech, so obviously a big part of deciding who should be queen is how articulate she is, how she presents herself, etc. because she's representing Little Tokyo and the Los Angeles Nisei community. After talking to Dana for awhile it was pretty obvious to me why she got picked. I'm not criticizing the other candidates because I've never met them. I'm just saying, , ,
